Tam is right, there's Tams and there's Toms. If someone is a Tam, they're Tam. Kevin Bridges has a skit on dogs, there's dogs and there's dugs... Tam should definitely be Tam, it's not an accent. Team Jess on this.

I've just finished the new Netflix show Department Q, and the actors who plays Navid and Tam are both in it, although Tam only in one scene. If you've not seen it, you must! It's a corker!

You can use either Tom or Tam, as they both refer to Thomas — it's just that Tam is more commonly used in Scotland
