Andy Mac

Sarah Radders

I'd totally forgotten about the single! Holy God.. that video ! Ha 😄

Vic

I joined Patreon for this and Peep Show. Can't wait, love you guys!

sadie penman

Same - love your reactions - if I remember rightly we knew that the Xmas special was coming. Many of us were confused o er the first episode comedy like this had never been seen and this was in the time of the start of reality TV - I joined for Taskmaster can’t wait. And yeah sorry I love reactions to get the joy of the first time watch can’t beat it ❤️

RegenerationNationTV

Aye, welcome in Glyn! You shall not regret it 👍

Glyn Newcombe

You’ve made me transfer to Patreon you dastardly duo ! Love your reactions

Static CentreHalf

1:01:39 - You have one as President.

Plum

"Tim", or Martin Freeman, was a much bigger actor by the Christmas Specials!

Mr Jeff Man Hat

the film is shit and not canon. stephen merchant didn't work on it.

Thomas Wilkinson

Can't ignore your powers impression 😆

Thomas Wilkinson

Merry Xmas!

Mark McKeown

If the movie isn't decided on, hopefully the bloopers will be :)

Terry Cooper

Hope after t h e christmas special you are going watch the David Brent spin off film where Rickys character pursues a music cd career. They even released an album of David Brent songs. This film finishes the story of uk office.

makadeni123

Wasn't that Stephen Fry who said that?

Adam

Ricky Gervais once said one difference between the US and UK culture is that the US love winners but the UK loves the underdog/loser, I think this explains the sympathy for David Brent over Neil.

emu cat

David would make you redundant for a promotion, slag you off, make you listen to his music and copy your fashion mistakes. Neil wears a tan colour leather-jacket without irony. I'd say they're both equally evil.

jamestoni

wit until youse go down the rabbit hole of his music lol

Dandelion

what's going on?!

Megatron

Ooo comments disabled. It's kicking off 😬

Jon Johnson

The channel in the description isn't even available in the UK, we can only watch BBC content if we swear an oath to the TV Licence

Fordy7169

Maybe not. Don't hint at a spoiler. Let them find out if they will love it or hate it. LOL

SimonNZ

Theloyalmuppet

Yeah was weird watching live at the time seeing the whole dynamic changed round with david tim gareth dawn etc but great episode for cringe, feeling sorry for him, hating him again then seeing how sad he’s become, its all for show he’s at his lowest, told u youd end up feeling for him, cant wait for next one now😊

Alex

My read on David's promoter guy is that he isn't shady or a scammer.. He just dabbles here and there in casual small-time party events and suddenly he's thrust in front of this camera crew as if it's a big deal and feels pretty uncomfortable. To add to that, as a small-time events organizer, even he thinks David is a nobody but has been asked by him to carry out this work for him. He just feels awkward imo. lol

Mat

I can't wait for the final episode. The entire 2 and a half seasons have been leading up to this.

D Andrew

Petition to have Mike drink a Red Bull before every reaction💹✔✔

Gary

He's allowed back in the office because they are filming a follow up documentary to the office but he's pushing his luck.

Mark Tremaine

Mike and Jess, for that matter, keep being you and react the way you are. We love it 💙 But I get you. I'm another one who looks for deeper meaning, symbolism, etc., its all good 👍

bobbyshaftowenttosea

I thought so, but no - ,Sandy McDade. A Scots woman who played minor parts until then, then a theatre award and movies after.

RegenerationNationTV

I do not see these traits you see in David at all. I see them in Neil 😂

Simon Coward

Love xxxxxx

I don’t know how anyone could be ‘Team Neil’. Sure he’s a good boss and professional but he has an air of smugness and even pretension about him. He projects a facade of being a good guy but doesn’t shy away from taking opportunities to put down Brent. Brent is a plonker and a bit over the top but deep down he’s a good guy whose life hasn’t turned out quite how he pictured and is just desperate to be loved. If you knew a Brent in real life sure your eyes would roll at times and you’d think just relax mate but you know he’d be a much better laugh as a mate/someone to have a pint with down the pub and probably someone you could confide in and when it came down to it would have your back whereas Neil isn’t the sort of bloke you could really trust. This might be a difference in culture too as in Britain we love the underdog and self deprecation is a core part of the identity and culture. Someone who is a bit obsessed with having the top job, flash car and trophy wife and a bit of a snake isn’t what we are about. Perhaps this will all become / bit clearer in the finale…

Craig Wright

Loved seeing Mike losing it to Brent's music video. I've never laughed at that bit as much as I did when watching the reaction.

SomeBSName

Karl Pilkington did a little review when he was their producer on the radio show. He said the first one is a bit slow, but the second one is much better. So something to look forward to. Ricky was happy with the review btw, this episode is setup.

Kieran B

Dawn’s replacement is one of the creators and stars of Ghosts, coincidentally

bdazzer85

That was your first introduction to the word "plonker" if OFAH wins the poll you'll see where that word originated 😆

Richiep

Why does it say3 years later then?

Emma Edwards

Was gonna ask the same thing but wasn’t sure how to spell it 😂

Johnathon Healey

Racial

CONALL MCLAUGHLIN

You guys no it's not really 3 years later.....? Right?

Rob Brown

Okay, what is a WaWa?

TJCrisp

Damn, you do look like Bob Mortimer 😂

Phil Robinson

Is that Ashley Jensen (Maggie from "Extras") asking the questions behind the camera? Pretty sure it is, I'd recognise those dulcet Scottish tones of hers anywhere! (Unless I'm wrong and therefore a berk).

Keith Pratt

I hope they react to the music videos for Equality Street and Gypsy Lady.

TheHigh

🤍👍✌️

Josh O'Brien

It's funny, i've seen this special a million times, and only now watching non-british people react to it do I realise, there's a lot in it that is super british sentiment in the way it's constructed. Mike, almost everything that it felt like you were mulling over about Neil allowing David to be around the office when he doesn't work there anymore and Brent's sad arc in this special etc all feel totally normal to the British culture. In the UK vs America (broadly speaking) we have a bleaker outlook, everything's smaller, lower budget, lower expectation, lower stakes.... In reality as well as in entertainment. So alot of these aspects feel totally relatable and known over here, without question. There might even be something of that in the way Gareth and Brent are still friends whilst constantly undermining eachother. We live in tiny towns, on a small island, who else you gonna go be friends with? You've put too much time into the relationship already. Also with Tim not having any mates, I feel the same about that. I know a lot of men Tim's age over here, including myself, who are good guys but everyone's busy, everyones making families, and they've lost touch with all their friends along the way and are just working through life. I think anyway. I might be talking out of my arse, but that's the sense of it I have having spent my whole life here, but watching America at the same time. For instance, had the office been a real documentary, and David Brent been a real person, at the time this was made in the UK, his shitty low budget night club run, with a pathetic agent would have almost certainly been what actually would have happened to him. A lot of Reality TV stars from the early 2000's ended up on that track. I've never thought about it before. I don't know whether America has the same reality TV star appearing at night clubs just to walk on stage and do nothing thing. But it happens alot over here. Or certainly used to. Sorry for the ramble, started typing and couldn't stop. Love you 2, its a pleasure watching all these old favourites through your eyes. Appreciate your thoughtful input Mike. Keep 'em coming.

Dango247

Equality street is Brent's best single 👌

Andrew Roberts

Why can’t you let Mike and Jess decide for themselves? You don’t have to watch it if they do.

Julian

Yeh Lee was enthusiastic about taking the offer because he likes free things and the idea of free flights appealed to him.

Josh Read

Don't you get too hot in those Christmas PJs? Your hat is cool Jess 😎

Fordy7169

Mike, keep reacting the way you do, you have good insights and assessments based on your life experiences. It's your (and Jess's) reaction channel after all. P.S. Neil is a top manager in this - professional, fair and with a sense of humour when needed. People who think otherwise are not based in workplace reality. I think he feels sorry for Brent and is trying to be pleasant in allowing him to visit the Office, arguably more than he should. Maybe his patience will wear out?

Fordy7169

Mike and Jess, don't know if you misunderstood or not but Dawn And Lee are just coming back for a short time to see relatives and go to Xmas Party then they are due to go back to Florida. All paid for by the BBC producers.

Talman

I was just coming to say the same thing. I think ultimately Brent is a lonely guy, with few, or possibly, no friends and that is partly why he acts how he acts. He just wants to be loved. Great writing.

Karen Campbell

These Christmas specials are a masterpiece of writing and my absolute favourites. They're perfection and I hope you'll agree with me 🙂

bobby g

If anyone in the UK does want to watch them they're on iPlayer

bobby g

Chill out. GBH of the ears.

bobby g

Cheers

Jamie Derry

She looks like she would be spunky a lot of the time, lols

Paul Archibald

Mike went a bit Brent when talking about Tim and being friends.

Jaxon's Jerseys

Mike saying he feels sad for Brent and wants to hug him - shows how good the writing is, that's exactly what we're supposed to feel,

Ducactus

Gotta react to his song next, Brent and Johnson - Equality Street. Lawsuit money well spent

Johnathon Healey

I am 👍🏼

RegenerationNationTV

He always means well? Dude said straight to Neil's face his wife looked unintelligent. 😂

Charlie

Those celebrity nights at tacky suburban cheese clubs really were the absolute nadir of pop culture in the noughties. Not that it's any better now, it's just a different kind of drab emptiness.

RegenerationNationTV

Felt like Will showing up as Harry Potter and no one else is dressed up

RegenerationNationTV

Hell yes! Would love to go to a live show

RegenerationNationTV

I've worked a lot of jobs 😂

Lucus

Watch the full version of if you dont know me by now and the bloopers to it, its hilarious

Brad Johnson

Has Mike done every job in existence?

Megatron

I might wait for part 2 and do them both together 😁

Brad Johnson

Yeah it's just tragic

L P

I would love to be friends with David Brent part 2 you will see why

Grad

David Brent: Life on the Road is not worth it. It doesn't add anything of value -- but maybe takes something away from the perfect ending that is/was the Christmas special. I would skip it.

Tim

Nobody is team David Brent, but he is such a desperate character that is clearly aching for acceptance. I definitely have a lot of empathy for him, even if he generally comes off like an absolute plonker.

SM

It's crazy they haven't reacted to Seona Dancing already. If Mike reads this, 2 Seona Dancing songs to react to are- 'More to Lose' and 'Bitter Heart' both from 1983.

Julian

When he said “Who da fuck iz this” I was convinced he had seen Phoneshop 😂

Dandelion

Haha, when Mike said "what the f is wrong with this person" I immediately thought of Peep Show and how they're gonna react to Mark and Jez.

Danny

Theres a full version of the David Brent song, plus a little behind the scenes and blooper reel. I got both

Jára Zimmerman

If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain.

Dave Henshall

This is the episode where it tipped over from comedy to pathos. Great writing

Kieran B

I know someone remarkably similar to David

Andy Oliver

Fun Fact: Contestant number one, Bubble's only claims to fame are that he had been a housemate in the second season of Big Brother and that Charlie Brooker once described him as, "A clipping from Nuts magazine bobbing in a fetid urinal", which is probably my second favourite description of a person ever

Danny

Ricky Gervais can't drive, so all those car scenes with Brent, he is actually in a car on the back of a truck pretending to drive

Chicken Nugget

Ahh man. Gotta wait a whole week for part 2 now. I'll try & dig in.

Kieran B

I don’t know that anyone is truly team David Brent, we just have a bit more sympathy for him because he’s clearly so insecure

Mark

Please do the bloopers after part 2, you will love it 😂

Kieran B

I think a lot of the stuff that seems less plausible is more plausible in British culture, but it is still pushing it.

Paul

Love the William Montgomery/Kill Tony reference. I went to the London show a few weeks ago. 🎤

Jason

Put their Christmas jumpers on for that 🤣

Gem Lou

Funny thing is I was 23 when this came out and was like hell no i wouldn't date Brent now I'm the 45 year old he wouldn't date (I still wouldn't)

Peter Bullivant

Great reaction guys , the outtakes of the show is great if can find them after next week talking of not laughing when filming

Naetep

guys please watch friday night dinner. its the perfect show to follow the inbetweeners!

Julian

They were all minor celebrities, that was part of the set up. ‘Bubbles’ was a contestant on Big Brother.

Jules & Kev Morrissey

Peep Show looks like the early favourite, although it could all change in the next round....... Hope so !!

Michael

Omg Angelos Epithimiou I didn't know he was in this

Danny

The Office full episodes videos are all blocked to the UK, that is why the views are low on the YouTube source you used.

Karlos

Re: David being in a band or releasing singles. Google Seona Dancing. He had a band in the 80s (I think). Looks like Adam Ant. Also, the bloopers from the Office are hilarious.

Austin GT

Please don't watch the movie. Bigger disappointment than Alton Towers

Alan Ridge

Great seeing this again. Loved your reaction as always ❤️

Andy McCann

Can't wait for the next one, it's so good.

Danny

That's not a full bloopers video. Way more than that.

Christian Rolfe

David just wants to be liked, he's being a cock trying, but he always means well. He's awful, but we all have met someone desperately seeking the feeling of being loved/liked

White Dwarf

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpPl89XrEdw React to the bloopers next! A good idea is a good idea forever.

Spencer Chou

I don't, as do many others.

Gsmith

The bbc is our cnn. Ricky Gervais hates them too. As we all do.

Austin GT

Absolutely love the specials. Can't wait for part 2

James MacDonald

You should definitely react to the bloopers once the series is done.

Andrew Roberts

Glad you enjoyed the cringe fest! Fun fact: the guy who was the third contestant at the Love Lottery competition, Howard Brown, was an actual “celebrity,” having appeared in a number of UK bank adverts around the time this episode was filmed - hence the line Brent said to him, “If I want advice off you mate, it’ll be about mortgages.” I think it’s fair to say that the high hopes you have for part 2, Mike, will not disappoint Jess or yourself.

Emma Edwards

Great reaction. Looking forward to next week. It’s a good ‘un 😉

Richard Lees

Glad you enjoyed it. Definitely keeps the same standard from the series

Cal Evans

Can't wait 'til you guys get the final part of this masterpiece next week.

Mike M

Got to hit those character lows so the highs feel that much sweeter.

Joe Blakeley

Can't wait to watch this later 😁
