Like anyone cares

Tried several times but never got past this episode. Thought it was because there was always something about Robert Webb I didn't like....or was it bad talking Peter Gabriel. Warmed to Robert Webb recently so gonna stick with it this time
Joe Wright
Season 2 - 6 are as good as any comedy series ever. The only thing that comes close to the Office UK imo.
Chevy
min 16
Alan Broadbent
Reason for audio being dubbed later is cos bowling alley is real and would have been too much noise intererence
Nathan Wilson
Sixth form means she’s maximum 18 😳
Neil Tolerton
U guys do realise that Noel, guy singing is just half the band lol. Brother Liam is just pure rock n roll. Check out slide away or acquiesce
Ian Warren
Also, the fact you find it so creepy and uncomfortable and cringy yet are laughing so hard at that... is exactly what UK comedy is all about.
Ian Warren
Not only would I not go through another persons medicine cabinet, I would also go to the trouble of clearing my medicine cabinet before inviting anyone to a party at my house. Erm.... there's nothing wrong with me. Stop asking questions. Stop wondering! Go away!
Dave Henshall
Never seen it before but I’m not quite getting this show yet. Yes, subjective etc but I assume it gets better?
Mark Jones
One thing I always feel when watching people react to Peep Show is the 90's in the UK was utterly despicable, recreational drug use was through the roof and sexual promiscuity was off the charts, it was a wonderful decade! 😁 And I always feel this show was a product of that debauched rave generation, so people like me who lived though it doesn't even flinch at any Peep Show scenario, but I get why others find it so awkward, I won't ruin it with any spoilers... but can't wait to see you deal with the next episode!!!! 🤣
Kieran B
Mark went out and ended up out out
J
Well, no. The biggest issue with ANY reaction content is the few people who don't enjoy the subject matter yet can't resist regurgitating the same tired, subjectivity-blind diatribe, rather than simply skipping the content they don't appreciate. Have a little grow up, mate. From someone who's neither a Peep Show nor an Inbetweeners fan, yet somehow manages to steer clear of spouting off in the comments about the people who are.
Dandelion
Next ep is legendary
Grown Up North
So the biggest issue with Peep Show is its fans have to defend it continuously.
Super Hans
should be said that rest of this season is a bit ropey. including this episode. writing very uneven i think.
Gregor Bajc
so in usa you cant buy individual cans of beer ? lol
Vee
I cant believe how much these guys will love peep show.
Paul
Weeeeeeeeeeeird 💯% never fancied it then and defo not now…. Fair play tho humour is subjective, Different strokes for different folks….. enjoy 👍
afrochuck
It gets better. Trust.
Julian
He’s hiding in plain sight, like me. Yours sincerely, David Bowie
Tonia Laws
Why has no-one realised who Dandelion is in this thread is yet?? He was there last week and I'm STILL the only one who recognises Johnson when I see him!
Ryan Totney
Same guy who created Succession btw 😂

One of the things that makes Peep Show so great is the cringe, hopelessness of the protagonists and the private hidden thoughts but looking back these first three episodes over indulged a bit but I reckon from the next episode onwards things start to balance a lot more and the plot and character arcs, particularly Mark and Jez’s friendship (if you can call that haha) develop. Can’t wait for the next episode though. Bring on the Johnson! 😂

Cheers

A bunch of people have probably already said, but yeah the first season is a little crusty. They still haven't figured out the best way to do the POV stuff and there are a lot of jokes that just don't land as they haven't quite nailed the humor yet either. There are also lots of weird experimental stuff (like Mark's flashback to asking Sophie out, that awful shot of Mark opening the medicine cabinet etc.) that are not present in the rest of the series. I think you will enjoy S2 much more, the entire first season feels like a pilot episode by comparison (or an amateur film student project).
CONALL MCLAUGHLIN
Good luck with the next episode 😂
Julian
It’s not that many though. Wouldn’t want them thinking it’s constant sex scenes 😎
Kayleigh
Oh you have WAY more uncomfortable sexual scenes to look forward to lol.
Kayleigh
“This is the sort of thing people do when they’re having a good time” is something that went through my head as a teenager a lot lmao “this is what normal teenagers do, right?”
Daniel Coughlin
not everyone likes it.
Right Said Brett
Jess is as sharp as a tack. Mike is... well, Mike.
Right Said Brett
I never noticed that and I've watched this show countless times! Great spot!
Right Said Brett
There's a few mirror shots throughout series 1 (there was one in the first episode, for example) and they are badly composited. The show becomes much more refined as it continues across multiple series.
Right Said Brett
It's so interesting watching these reactions and seeing that the show hasn't quite clicked for you both, yet knowing that you'll both adore the show by the time it comes to an end.
Mark Rudd
6th form college is what the inbetweeners were at during the show 😆
Emily
I was just as uncomfortable watching those scenes, but watching Mike and Jess squirm was the only thing that got me through! 😅

23:03 Jess got it right, Jeff gave the impression he'd taken Sophie out for "Italian" and you think Italian restaurant, expensive, but all he'd done was take her to Pizza Hut :D
Julian
The scene with the medicine cabinet is weird. I was trying to figure out how they filmed the mirror shot. They’ve basically edited an image into the mirror, but the reflection is the wrong size, then when he opens the door the reflection is still there when it’s not facing him lol
Karlos
From your comments about watching The Office, it made me think, Peep Show is like a cross between The Office and The Inbetweeners. In that it's really funny, but some moments are so cringe.
Adam
Anyone who doesn’t like the next episode is a badger baiting homophobe
Karlos
Totally agree. Season 1 is funny, but raw. It definitely gets better.
Karlos
Your guess about what 'on the pull' means was exactly right. Picking up girls.
Karlos
from what? from what? We're on the edges of our seats here!
Megatron
Valerie is way hotter than Sophie 😉
Paul John Jeffs
Lol, at 30:57 when Jess says "that left the worst taste in my mouth" the onscreen "subscribe" graphic splashes out a little green thing that goes right in her mouth haha.
steven bell
Joe Michel
season 1 is definitely rough but it gets alot better
Darren Geoghegan
And what.....
Julian
I found a bit of trivia. The song which becomes the theme tune from season 2 onwards is playing in the background in the bowling alley.
Charlie
As in…Jeff?!
SimonNZ
After watching forward you have my permission to skip the next one
James Waters
Oh no, I must mentally prepare for the second hand cringe in regard to the teenager angle. Also, I don't get why people are dunking on the next episode, its the best of the season
Barok
Follow the fingers, follow the fingers.
Julian
Mark will be really annoyed when he wakes up the next morning and realises he needs to go grocery shopping AGAIN. Plus the store will be busier on a Saturday.
SimonNZ
Nice haircut Jess
Dan G, Leicester
In the first series the POV shots were filmed with the actors wearing helmet-mounted cameras. So for example, in Mark and Valerie's sex scene, they will have filmed it once with David Mitchell wearing a helmet, then again with the actress playing Valerie wearing a helmet. Just in case what you already witnessed in the show wasn't a weird enough mental image 😂
Chorlton Outlaw
Probably the worst episode in the series tbf
Tim
This first season is definitely interesting to go back to - while it does set the groundwork for the show, the filming style and some of the character stuff doesn't 100% line-up with the rest of the seasons.
Anthony Skelton
Spot on Mike. 😂
Tro Janors
You've experienced the first, "JEFF!?!". There's many more where that came from 🤣
Erica
I know what you mean but even that isn’t as bad as the teenager imo
Josh Read
As he went bowling with the groceries im guessing they didn't get home safely. Great reaction as always
Michael
Jess really keeps Mike on track doesn't she 😂 yes he took her to pizza hut before the bowling alley
Dandelion
It’s tough but worth seeing them cringe 😈
Christian Rolfe
God it's a gem and it gets so much better, really enjoying it again.
Erica
Thanks Mike and Jess I am not having the best morning of my life mentally and this will help 🫶🏼. Oh no it’s not the Mark sleeps with the teenager episode is it I can’t cope with that I’ll have to fast forward that bit 🫣🤣. I can watch every single other thing in this show but I can’t watch that 🤣
Adam
Haven't watched this first season in years. It's so weird, everything feels off - script, humour, characters, tone. Great reaction as always though 👍🏼
Dandelion
BTW, next weeks ep made a friend of mine quit the whole show. I'm glad you don't have that choice :-)
Dandelion
Hahaha, loved your reaction. BUT NEXT EPISODE WILL TEST YOU muwahahaha
Cem
Next week an introduction of a legendary character 😉
Dandelion
LFG!!!!
na plz
Jess referencing the specifically European accented cavemen there, nice. Mike, you're right on the meaning.
