Hmmm...while Camilla was there first, am I the only one to think a certain bratty Dark Elf might make a better future Lady Marlow once the current one is disposed of? Behind Eloise, I mean, who would totally help return House Marlow to its proper glory as walking the walk after talking the talk of being noble and honorable.

I'm kinda hoping they are. There are so many stories (fictional and non fictional) of nobility and royalty coming from robber barons , line usurpers, assassination of the previous title holder after marriage to a family member who can bring the assets of that family under the purview of the family who organised the assassination. I'd actually like for the Marlows (as in the ones who actually have Marlow blood) being one of the few actually upright noble house with noble character as well as title ( with the original Thomas either being an exception or influenced negatively in his formative years by lady Marlow either purposefully or accidentally.) The thing is Lady Marlow isn't really a Marlow, she married into the family. My guess is Lord Marlow doesnt know about the orders, is genuinely disappointed in his second son ( who could blame him, Thomas turned out to be a piece of work). Decided to basically exile him while giving him a shot at redemption and Lady Marlow decided to take the opportunity to try and influence things to get rid of him outside the public eye. I actually wouldn't be surprised if this is one of the aforementioned marrying a daughter into the Marlow house then try and destroy, discredit or subsume the house from the inside so as to remove a rival house or gain possession fot their assets. Meaning Lady Marlow might have been the one to poison her eldest son or, even more twisted, played the puppet master and somehow influenced Thomas to do it but didn't expect him to pull it off so flawlessly that there wasn't any evidence to use against him.

“and made it clear that if I didn’t do as I said, she wouldn’t let us escape in the first place.” should be “as she said”

Can he train his luck? By gambling? Meditate really hard and suddenly do magic?

OG Thomas was a lot of things but stupid wasn't one of them.

I wonder if Carmilla has realized that the family she thought was so honorable might be much less than the hype.

With Thomas getting into a groove, seems like it will be harder for him to be striving. Guess that the king of forest will arrive right on time haha
