Oh wow...Cole's ability can block a Demon Lord's presence from his offspring's mind?! Definitely got some magical juju on tap, if that's true...though the next step will be seeing if Raven's relief is temporary, or if she's permanently freed from Trigon's influence.

My only complaint is that Cole doesn't try to appeal to the cheap bastards greed. I doubt he could get a service to clean the place for $50. I also doubt he wants to do it himself. So cheating Cole of $30 now means next time he wants his business cleaned he's going to pay for it. Not like its actually important to the story though.

I remember a story I read in a superhero story collection years ago about a cleaning themed hero who snapped. All his filthy villains had retired or been jailed and all he got called on were cleaning jobs. So when some karen called him in, karened at him, and then dropped a cup and told him to deal with it, he snapped. They found her perfectly cleaned bones later on.

Love DC so much and your MC hits the right points for me. Call me lame but I like characters who want to do the right thing even when they know it will probably cause trouble for them. They don't have to be 'shirt off my back' good. This is a solid start.

Learning spells is not necessarily needed for magic casters in DC, a casting medium and spoken words is needed for some, others can just cast magic, others still can just swing a wand and can cast spells/do magic. And it's not limited to those examples.

so is it magic, or an ability. because the fact he apparently could just suddenly do it would make me think it is a meta human ability over magic. if he found a book that had magic on cleaning, it would make sense, but just a spell for generic cleaning or whatever appearing in his head is a little confusing in a normal setting...i think. either way, looking forward to next chapter.
