Thank you, I’m mostly okay now. I just don’t like visiting my mom for a myriad of reasons and it’s very exhausting lol. I’m glad you liked it. I’m interested in seeing how things with Tessa go as she’s definitely the character I have the vaguest ideas for. Haven’t developed them further yet since she’s so far off but I am excited about what I do have planned!

Good chapter! Flowed very well and set up for some good interaction later as well as organically fleshing out Tessa! Thanks for the great work hope you feel better after your draining weekend.

Each little scene like this should make it make more and more sense, I think. She’s an ice queen, she will likely be an entirely different character by the time she’s thawed.

PunishedKom

I think it lent itself to a pretty good joke honestly lol

Honestly I didnt think I would like the boss as an intrest but I'm slowly getting convinced. At this point I think I would be happy seeing how any of the intrests will develop

House husbandry is the perfect name for the skill!

It might be because I generally structure things with my outlines to have a general checklist of what I want to happen in one scene, so I’m not suddenly swerving mid chapter. I usually try to keep sudden scene/location shifts to the start/end of a chapter, too, which might help with what you’re saying.

I think it really comes through. despite how fantastical the story is, the emotional parts are done straight and in an unflinching manner. Then just like Ollie we all learn to like the love interests. 😆

Thank you, that’s pretty much my biggest concern here in that no matter how Tessa explained herself she’s going to come off really, really bad. It’s why I ended up with her being for forthcoming about it and just owning up to it. I actually always give each love interest a way for Oliver to relate to them since I believe that’s one of the best ways to make a relationship believable. Oliver relates to Mia having similar compulsive issues, Stacy being ashamed of her past but trying to grow past it, Zoe’s compulsive need for love and attention, Rebecca being the awkward kid who struggled to make friends, and now this with Tessa. I personally think it’s very effective in this instance and I hope readers understand why he’s able to think this way towards her.

Great chappy . Scene was organic and flowed well . Tessa is an interesting one. It's hard to be compassionate with someone who's literally discriminating against you but Oliver is literally in the perfect position and frame of mind to do so. I mean her being is boss makes it not perfect but yea. I think we are seeing a lot of people who are struggling but it's turns out many people can and are worth the time.

Well you nailed it (in my not as humble as I should be opinion) The number of times I read a book that is going well then suddenly a difficult scene like that is just brute forced "so the story can happen" gets frustrating. I'm not an author, I'm only speaking as a reader, but it's emersion breaking.

The dadergy is strong in this one. Thank you, though! Yeah it was a tightrope walk between taking things too far or not and I almost cut a section from it to save for later before managing to get the flow correct.

Way of the Dad is a fantastic skill name!! A bit envious, it took me years to get that skill!! I must have it at rank 2 though because my Dad puns and BBQ skills are outstanding! 😂 Great chapter, I can see why it was a hard one to write, so much happens but it felt very organic, not forced at all.
