Thank you! My forced vacation was more than enough time away I think and while I’m excited to see how I’m doing I’m not going to push it if it turns out I’m still in the same rut I was before it. Don’t worry about me too much. Right now I’m just enjoying going through vol 2 again to get back into the feel of it.

i am loving the new idea and also remember to not over work yourself because it might make your problems worse so take your time and if nothing comes out after a while take a break and do something else then come back to it. don’t force it bc the it won’t happen and the problem will only be worse.

We’ll see what happens if I develop it further. You’re right that it may be restrictive and I have a lot to think about in general. The card game is just for flavor and because I like card games but you’re correct, it doesn’t have to be an actual card game and I’d probably be happy if things were just done through cards without limiting it by having to make actual rules, numerical values, etc.

PunishedKom

I don’t think either lmao, I mean more like a professional gambler going out on a limb trusting their guts.

I really like the story idea but I'm not really sure what the "card game" aspect adds to the overall plot. I think letting it be just a straight up pokemon type world with what would have been spell cards functioning more like held items or abilities in pokemon fits the story idea better. You could still have the minions and leaders have "cards" in the real world as the sort of pokeball equivalent but having the duels in a card game format feels a little restrictive to me. Still either way it's a cool idea for a story and I would totally be down to read it.

When you mention risky ideas and just barely executing on them, are you thinking more Pokemon Ash (that attack was more effective than expected because (insert reason)) or Yugioh Yami (I looked into the future 3 days ago when I modified this deck and I knew that you would have that ability so I put in this otherwise useless card and here it is, right out of my ass)?

I wish I was half as creative as you man. This is wild and im excited

You do you man. You make the book and I'll read it. You have some outside the box ideas for the genera so I'll be happy to see how it comes together.

Maybe eventually, I’m still focused on LARPG when I get back to it and I just needed to vent all this.

I'm down for this I really like the idea. It seems very ambitious but I feel like your passion for it will make it work. I'm really excited to see these characters and there interactions.

If I didn’t want it to be a card game I wouldn’t spend 4000 words talking about it being a card game lol, like come on that is clearly the entire central conceit of what I want to do with it. I’m not concerned about all that, I can handle it.

Ok a few notes. 1 I'm sure you already know this but please be careful with disabled characters. It's really easy to make them problematic and piss everyone off. 2 I don't think you want to make a card story. When you say card game story or deck builder litrpg people come in with a certain crunchy expectation that you don't want to deal with. I like the pokemon like shell you are going for but it sounds light on the hard stuff people that like the genera will be looking for. I dig the crystal idea you are running with and think that is a better direction to run with. If you want equipment and resources to play a big story roll just crystal everything and drop the cards. If it's all hot swapping crystals and resources management with team building in between no one can get mad at the lack of deck building strategy or spell combos. I really like the open ness of the astral plains you have going. Seems like a lot of potential for fun characters and creative situations. However I'm not as big of a fan of the tables idea as it's seems much more limiting compared to the astral plains you have set up already. Maybe you could find a way to work them together. For example let each player create a mind palace of sorts for them selves and part of the skill level is creating traps hazards of just sheer scale to deal with. Could be a fun way to also get a feel for each characters deeper personality or beliefs. Lastly all the characters you pitched sound fun and I'm sure you will do them justice.
