Wings of Empire
🕑 Added 2024-11-10 08:48:07 +0000 UTCWith Morningstar now complete I've started working on what hopefully will become the next big game; a Space Opera called Wings of Empire.

Wings of Empire takes place in a world where the Roman Empire never fell, and eventually clawed its way to the stars. There it is locked in a Cold War with the Chinese-descended Commonwealth.

I love Sci-Fi books, and there's a lot of inspiration here from authors like David Weber, Elizabeth Moon, Jack Campbell, CJ Cherryh and Neal Asher. Expect massed ships, missiles firing and glorious last stands.

Another obvious touch-stone is movies and anime. Starship Troopers, of course (with Keira here re-enacting Dizzy Flores' legendary shower scene); other inspirations include Battlestar Galactica, Legend of the Galactic Heroes and Space Battleship Yamato, just to mention a few. The intention is a story that blends politics and grand strategy with the personal adventures of MC and the girls around him.

MC's a veteran of the Roman Legions, forced to switch to a Navy track after a bad injury. Now a freshly minted Fighter Pilot he's joining the crew of the INS Aquila, a Fast Attack Carrier, as it heads out towards contested space.
For those of you curious, I put up a very first prototype (covering just day 1 and 2), on the Development Branch of Morningstar. There it'll stay until I get around to creating a Steam App and launching it into Early Access.
As always, a huge thanks to all of you for supporting me; I couldn't have made any of these games without your help.
Curious about the game? Thoughts on the prototype? Let me know on Discord or in the comments!

Just got to play the prototype. I was hooked fairly quick and played with growing apprehension because I knew it would be over soon. Can't wait to see where it goes. Good stuff.

Loving the part available so far... 😎

No bugs planned, at least for the opening. Humans are more than enough trouble on their own. But yeah, definitely Starship Troopers inspirations.

Wings of Empire looks promising! Looking forward to more.

Does service ensure citizenship? Is the only good bug a dead bug? I would like to know more...

You are the best…. It is set in the future and Rome never fell. So it stands to reason that harems would be the norm. Rome was awesome!
Droid Productions
No mac version yet; it's still very much an experiment. Let me fire it up and see.
Droid Productions
Explicit harem. This time I made sure I got buy-in from the Queen first :)

Oh..by the way...couldn't get it to work via the dev branch on MacOS, only on the Windows version. Is there no Mac version yet or did I mess something up?

The first two days are already great! Can't wait to see the story evolve and play more of it. As always...wonderful work Droid!

Oh I can’t wait to dive into this

Yeah, there might be some of my love for it in there as well :) I do look forward to getting out of the opening days, and ripping loose :)

You just combined my 2 most favorite settings, SciFi and Rome. Just played through the prototype and already loved it

Looking forward to it. Will finish with 2 of the endings im still to get in Morningstar and then will try the prototype, get a feeling for it. Damn got me excited for this.
Droid Productions
Hope people like it :) The little prototype's not much, but it helps set up the universe, and introduce some of the key characters. Next up, I need to go make the other locations in the world, and start filling the sandbox.
