Thanks for the feedback! It sounds like the edits worked, which is great. The edits didn't change what happened in the encounter, but I added to the dialogue and made everyone's motivations more clear.

Simon

The chapter was already changed. I for ime like it much better this way.

Fizbandu

My suspension of disbelief can easily handle a zealot lawmaker in the middle of nowhere ignoring evidence to pursue their prejudices. I know some people had a problem with this chapter but I was fine with it. I understand that it serves a function to establish the new power levels of our protagonists with respect to average people. It didn't seem overly forced but perhaps the encounter could be tweaked to appease those that were bothered

Daniel kanevsky

No rush, thanks for the update! Congrats on becoming a full time author

Alex Maher

Hey! Chapters are currently posted Tuesday and Saturday, though there is an occasional delay where I might need to edit one before it goes live. Once Book 3 is edited, I intend to increase my release rate to either 3 or 4 chapters per week. I'm just in the process of editing yesterday's chapter. It should go live in the next few hours.

Hello, I'm a huge fan! Is there a schedule for when the next chapters will be posted? I just caught up with the chapters, and I was wondering approximately when they will be posted!

NeWorlDark

That's the point, in a magic society a feudal world wouldn't exist as every aspect from farming to rulership would change. You're cherry picking aspects of society that would be changed

Navdeep Sugandhi

It does not work the same way, it is feudal society but existence of magic and gods choosen(that can come from any social class) changes things on the ground level. It impacts the World when a person can have the power to blast buildings on their own.

NeWorlDark

They were literally smuggling a illegal dragon. And you can absolutely compare the two when every other function and subset of society works the same way.

Navdeep Sugandhi

You can't compare it to medieval era when their is magic involved. Here their are magical signatures that you can't forge and whatnot. It's not just that choosen hump and celaine were behaving idiotic in that confrontation.

NeWorlDark

I actually enjoyed this chapter, I know people have some problems but for realler outer places (especially medieval era) the sheriff's were pretty much rule makers in of themselves.

Lucas Eduardo

Loved the chapter. Thank you.

DrNutella

Uhf realy strong opinions on this chapter, but i partly agree that it seems just a bit forced. Maybe an easy fix would be to let hump convince them of their real identity by letting them touch their adventurer medallions, wasn't that the point of the medallions in the first book? What good are they otherwise. And maybe change the last part to be from the bad guys perspective?! So we get insight in how he found them so easily.

Simon

If the plot point with the bounty needs to happen I would suggest that you see if you can actually have Hump and Celaine argue right and present all the normally neccesary credentials and have Brianna do the mental gymnastics. You could even have her convinced at first so she let's them leave and then she changes her mind later or something.

Alex Maher

All good. Seems the general consensus is that something isn't working. Going to see what I can do about it

Alex Maher

Noted your feedback. I'm going to think it over and figure out what I'm going to do.

Simon

I just wanted to add that this sonst meant to sound angry or anything like that. For a normal story I wouldn't even take the time to comment. Just want to give you food for thought.

Simon

I have to agree with the others, this plot point seems really forced. Even if she is zealot she can't just imprison everybody she feels like. Hump and Celaine seem to be doing an intentionally bad job explaining themselves. Even for me it seems like they have done something wrong. There should be so many diffrent ways this could go. The god of law and order should have rules too. This sounds really arbitrary and really not guided by laws. They should have been able to play so many card or argue so much better. Like 'Find something to pin on us other than 'You are so young it's suspicious, I need to detain you'.' They can just say they are the absolute elite of the youth etc. The only defense they use is 'we are not warlocks'. Not even a 'we have done nothing wrong and we are simply resiting unjustified abuse of authority'. They could even argue they should be compensated by the city because the guards attacked them. They do none of that and simply make themselves more suspicious.

Akki

Hmm. Yeah I definitely see where you're coming from. They had to have something which supported their legitimacy. Then again, trying to reason with a zealot who whips herself for her self perceived sins is like trying to have a conversation with a brick wall. They also need a bit of a low stakes hedge wizard style adventure to slow the pace down from the main storyline. A chill adventure now which has them relax, consolidate and understand their gains from their previous high stakes fight in Sheercliff whilst continuing with the heart-warming Nisha interactions. I also agree with the Winston thing, it's way too fast. I get that the spellbook is meant to be easier to track the more powerful Hump gets but damn this was way too fast! Basically, slow it down and let's chill for some chapters before more combat and properly evil jerks showing up. Maybe add some world building in this time, explaining what's in the lands around Celaine's home? I normally like what the author Alex does, but these last 2 chapters felt really weirdly out of pace and place.

Navdeep Sugandhi

Agreed with u this was a forced plot development and it is idiotic on multiple fronts adding the constant escalation that keeps on happening in this novel is bad imo

ParoxysmDK

Ty for the chapter. But I'm ngl this chapter felt weak to me. The entire scenario could've been easily avoided if hump had a symbol representing his connection with the baroness. A mark, a writ of passage, an emblem on a piece of clothing... anything. Even something like using his 'title' of the white flame would most likely have been an option. Trying to keep a low profile, and then causing a literal BOUNTY to get distributed everywhere, seems like an absolutely idiotic strategy, better to reveal your actual identity. (Especially considering the bad guys apparently know exactly where he his, down to the exact coordinates *cough plot contrivance cough*.) But it just so happens he has nothing of the sort?, when he literally saved an entire city and got rewarded with all sorts of gifts etc. But no one thought to give him a writ of some sort, or a identification marker that is not possible to counterfeit? The adventurers guilds should have something similar, to prevent bandits/scammers/criminals to fake their status as adventurers. Makes no sense at all imo. Also the ending with Winston is equally unrealistic. Almost no one knew where they were headed, and they kept it on the downlow the entire time. How tf did he locate them, track them down to exactly the right town, and only missed them by a few days or so? Feels a bit forced tbh. Personally i think this chapter and whole scenario needs a rewrite. Also this might just be me, but give the man a break already. The story has gone from one major threat to another in only the last 2 arcs: Major antagonist(s), huge villainous factions, secret factions, dimensional entities, corrupted dungeons etc. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm honestly kind of losing interest at this point sorry, the first arc was by far the best imo, it had the feel of an actual 'hedge wizard out on adventure'. Like think about it; he's only visited 1 dungeon and then BAM! the next moment he's fighting inter-dimensional horrors, evil spirits, been in a literal warlock faction war, corrupted dungeons, etc. It went from 1-100 too fast tbh. Everything escalates way too quickly. Sorry for the long rant, but i think I'm just getting tired of the growth of scale and odds. The story isn't about a hedge wizard imo. Because simply put there hasn't been enough hedge-wizardry to call it that.

Isiah Debarros

Thanks for the chapter
