March 2018 update
🕑 Added 2018-03-18 00:26:04 +0000 UTC Hey all!Sorry I haven't checked in for a bit. I've been spending quality time with my fiancee.
-However- I will still have a few chapters to post in a few more days, /and/ I'm still committed to finishing Nora 2 by the end of the month. I will be nose-to-the-grindstone around the last week of March.
I kind of needed to recharge a little bit. Nora's been very well received (still running a 4.8/5 at 70 reviews, and thanks to everyone that left one) but the sales haven't been that great.
Writing Nora had been a bit risky financially from the get-go, so this wasn't exactly a surprise to me, but it still felt like a bit of a kick in the balls. I've been very blessed and extremely fortunate so far with sales up to this point. So I guess the intellectual realization that I was taking a risk was a bit different than the reality.
Such is wisdom.
So...yeah. I'm still working. Chapters will be posted soon. I haven't forgotten about you all, I was just getting really stressed and needed a breather.
I also needed to take a bit of of time so I could re-read SOO before writing SOO2.
Thank you all for understanding and being patient. I promise I will make it up to you later this month.

Honestly I really like Nora, I'd hope that there is a crossover/ merger in the future.

Ironic, given Ludus is a female dominated culture. But then again I suppose that is just one of the hurdles that the MC has to overcome and the can "get" a Harem. You know, Ululala and Mareen are both looking for a sister-wife... be sorta funny mixing Nora into that. I can only imagine the conflicts of Alpha personalities...

I think right now it's definitely a genre thing that is slowly changing as more readers discover the genre.

Interesting . . I didn't realize a female lead was so broadly perceived as a turn-off. Are you familiar with pirateaba's (incredible) series The Wandering Inn? In my own case, I love the teamplay among the Delvers. It's something that few series in the GameLit and LitRPG do well. Hey, I like friendship.

A bunch of male readers in the genre have just told me they won't read a female lead. Then again, a lot of them don't like an ensemble cast like Delvers in the first place, so I'm not really losing readers there. I honestly think it's a lot of things, not least of which that so few women have found the genre yet. Nora was a risk, but when more female readers come and avoid a bunch of stuff like Large Chests, Nora will be ready to pick up.

I wonder what the difference is. Is it possible that swordfighting guys -- and perhaps the notion of a team --- appeal to a broader range of GameLitters than does a single female lead?

I guess we will see, but Nora 1 took like 3 or 4 months. Granted, I was sick for over a month of that and doing a bunch of other stuff, but it wasn't anything like SOO. /If/ I can get Nora 2 done this month it's just because I'm figuring out how to write more efficiently. Fingers crossed!

In an earlier post Blaise said he would return to Delvers after he completed the Nora trilogy and the 2nd book of the Secret of the Old Ones. Also he is working on a colaboration with William Arand in a new world.

Considering Nora seems to take a LOT less time to write you shouldn't need to sell as many copies to break even and backlist is backlist.
