“This place is probably worth more than the entire complex I lived in.” Helena muttered after I finished clearing our temporary housing. Kine agreed with a huff and wide eyes. We were searched coming in, with even x-rays going over us, so we were out of contact with Asakura. We just had to trust that she was going to get the job done outside of the resort. “Holy shit, that’s a food fabricator. They’re worth millions.”
“Use it while you can; we’re not going to be enjoying it for long.” We were given a suite in the resort spire that hugged half of the massive elevator that went all the way up to the surface. Wealth and luxury were plain to see in every direction. Our little abode was in the lower levels. It was a five-bedroom suite with three bathrooms, a kitchen, a dining room, and a living room with a full entertainment system, all with top-of-the-line hardware. Since it wasn’t staffed by debtors or cyborgs, it was lower class. “Kine, did you pick up any scents on our way here?”
“Plenty, including our target’s. His came from the higher levels. Drifted down the elevator shaft for about… fifteen floors. Give or take one or two. Smelled a lot of cyborgs and servants on that floor.” That sounded about right. He was a big deal now, while I was just a contender. He was being given a lot more luxuries and security. “Think we can nab him?”
“We can go and kill him, but we’ll die too. Not an option. He’s not that big of a threat, and we’re not paid enough to do it.” I told her, and Helena’s eyes snapped our way before I waved her off. She was on the replacement for the stove and dialing things in. She put a plate on a surface beneath several nozzles, and I watched as food was created. It wasn’t direct replication. More like 3D printing, with things being secreted into shapes with great precision. Basically food putty is extruded through nozzles before being cooked and served. I thought it was gross, but Helena looked at food that was only made from organic compounds without additives with wonder. It was easy to forget that the ninja clans gave us real food that most of the population didn’t get. “Just enjoy the room while we’re here. I’ll go ahead and win the colosseum matches until we can face the champion.”
“Hm. Might be that easy. Might not be. We attracted a lot of attention getting here. Helena’s the only one who went unnoticed.” Kine and I were half-monster and ‘good looking’ in this world, while Helena was ‘average.’ Given that a lot of the guests had ‘pets’ that were bound up in bondage with replaced limbs, I was sure that they had a taste for the ‘exotic.’ “Perhaps, we should ask her to look around?”
Sounds like a good way for Helena to get some bad ends.
So, naturally, I nixed the idea.
“No, she’s done enough being the front woman and cheerleading. Let’s not risk it. We’ll just turn in for the night. I’ll take first watch.” As long as I’m in command of any mission, we’re not splitting the party or doing anything stupid like infiltrating sex pest HQ. This place probably had entire facilities dedicated to mind-controlling, transforming, and corrupting people in all sorts of ways. Personally, I wouldn’t eat any meat here either. “Hey, use the poison amulet before you eat anything. It makes sure you won’t be eating people, either.”
Helena froze, wide-eyed as she stared at the food printer, and she shakily nodded before doing as I said.
The small talisman lit up with energy as she placed it near the food, and she stared at it as if willing it not to burn up and cover the food in inedible ash. It was made so that even people unused to our tools could prevent themselves from dying. People might mistake colors, saying "safe" or "unsafe," but a fine layer of incredibly bitter and vomit-inducing ash that ruins the food is a clear "do not eat" sign. And, of course, if you still somehow eat it, you’ll really vomit because it’ll purge your stomach while lining your throat and innards with a film to prevent absorption of whatever you ate.
If we couldn’t avoid eating, we had a pill that created the protective film by itself.
Anyway, the talisman didn’t burn up and stopped glowing, which confirmed the food was fine.
Helena promptly turned around and started ordering more food from the machine, and I couldn’t blame her one bit.
I turned back to Kine.
“Did you see the odds on the board?”
“Couldn’t miss it. They ranked you pretty low. Are you okay with that?”
“No,” I admitted, but gave her a grin. “But I’ll feel pretty great if those low odds give us big payouts.”
Kine’s eyes brightened at my suggestion, and she eagerly leaned in while I went to my bags.
Most of it was just clothes, but there was also plenty of money that came with wiping out all those fighting pits. Most of the money, of course, was just for gear and resources outside of the walls. However, more than a few merchants closer to the walls traded in jewelry and baubles that I traded all that I won for. Those I traded in as fast as I could inside the resort, which was just under a hundred thousand dollars.
The merchants probably took a fair chunk away from my winnings, but they had all the cards since I was already heading into the city.
But that wouldn’t matter as long as I kept winning.
“Bet it all on me. I’m going to win every single fight to scare Daichi out of here.” I jammed a thumb towards myself before giving a nod. “He’ll run the moment he sees one technique, so we’ve got five chances to make money at most.”
People like Daichi who were willing to make deals with demons to live?
Letting guys like him escape, or sparing them, basically guarantees bad ends.
It’s best to make sure he’s crippled and sealed away forever if I can’t somehow find a way to feed him to stronger demons.

Transform him into a woman and then throw him out into the world?

Interlude: Asakura Hiyo, the Fiery Blade

Stand fast, wait, and watch.
That was all I planned on doing, until Daichi fled, knowing we were hot on his heels.
Instead, complications arrived.
“I’m sorry, Hiyo. I tried to stop her, but she wouldn’t listen.” Leona put her hands together and winced as she spoke. Alecia, meanwhile, was observing the outside streets with an upturned nose and a grimace. Catherine sat at the table in my small room, cross-legged, and desperate to not gaze at anywhere Keita had lingered. “Once Catherine said Daichi was linked to her mother, she convinced Lady Asakura to send us here!”
“Keita already perished once because we split our forces, so I came here to see that it has not occurred, yet you reveal this!” Alecia turned to me with a furrowed brow. Outside of the academy, she chose to wear a private school uniform with a white, sleeveless blouse and a plaid skirt. If not for her mother’s gift providing her an aura of terror, she would’ve caused chaos in the streets. “Worse, you’ve let him stay in the same room as that mutt! That little thrall of his is permissible, as she knows her place, but that bitch styles herself as a bride!”
Before I could reply, Catherine groaned.
“Please, stop talking about the kid. I’m stopping myself from sniffing the sheets he’s sat on, and I’m still making a mess.” Catherine grunted and shook her head before taking a sleek black mask attached to the side of her belt and putting it on. Her shoulders slumped in relief as she put it on. “Bloody hell, I hated Mum before, but this takes the cake. Bitch is trying to get me killed by my oaths by jumping a kid.”
“We can move to another room, if that would help.” I was astounded by her self-control. Hybrids such as her were typically lost in their first two decades. Once they hit maturity, all their magical potential and talent was lost to baser instincts. They craved male essence, thinking of it as a superior source of energy than food and water, even though they could subsist off the latter. The table Catherine sat at was covered in ration bar wrappers. The contents of each one were enough to feed a person for two days. Over a dozen wrappers were emptied, and she was chewing through one as we spoke to suppress her desires even slightly. “You can even leave if you wish. Just show me how to seal Daichi properly.”
“I wish that I could. But Mother Dearest has more than a dozen different methods that let her and her little thralls slip through. You’re looking at the only expert on sealing her on this side of the planet.” Catherine relaxed a little before sighing and removing the mask. Her face flushed mere seconds after she took it off and began tinkering with it. She requested some materials after meeting Keita again; since then, she has barely shown up to classes she’s meant to teach to refine the new piece of magical equipment. “Dammit, I don’t even know if I’m smelling those sheets or just imagining it. This body is bloody ridiculous.”
“Succubus spawn such as yourself are naturally drawn to potent men. Given Keita’s heritage and strength, it’s only natural your body has surrendered to him already. It is a testament to your willpower and strength that you can resist. You have my admiration.” Alecia praised Catherine, who shot her a dour glare. The vampire godling merely raised an eyebrow before shaking her head. “I mean no disrespect. It is an honest statement. You are rebelling against your kind’s instincts and succeeding.”
Catherine’s glare softened a little, and she gave Alecia a nod.
And, for a moment, I thought Alecia managed a tactful conversation for once.
Then, she opened her mouth again.
“Do not fret. After I consummate with him, I shall permit you ample time with him if you wish. In fact, I would rather entrust you with his lusts than that mutt.” Alecia spoke, disregarding Catherine’s earlier request entirely, and suddenly the room was filled with a sweet scent, and Catherine groaned whilst staring at her ruined pants. “The years will pass in the blink of an eye, I assure you.”
“Augh, just… just stop making it harder for me than it already is.” Catherine groaned, and Leona intervened on her behalf by offering Alecia a bag of blood. The witch turned my way. “I’ll need help preparing the materials, especially down here where I doubt there’s much virgin blood running around. I was going to ask the kid.”
At her words, I raised an eyebrow.
“Is there an issue with my blood, then?” I asked her, and suddenly Catherine froze, as did Alecia and Leona. All three turned my way. I didn’t know whether to feel proud or infuriated by their surprise. I decided to push aside my emotions and simply ask them, rather than allow my thoughts to grow rampant. “I am untouched. What made you think otherwise?”
“…Most of my classmates go at it like rabbits in the dorms where they’re permitted.” Alecia stated simply and looked at me. “Even if a lot of them don’t participate every day, no one’s not doing it. You’re like one of the prettiest too, and they have the boys wrapped around their finger.”
Leona tilted her head and suddenly spoke, too.
“Boys would be all over you back home. Treat you super nice, too. Have you even kissed?”
“I planned on being with Daichi before his betrayal. We kissed, but only that. As the future head of the clan, I can’t take such things lightly.” I managed to speak even though my face felt heated. Tempted as I was to proclaim things that first came to mind, I instead chose to speak the truth. Catherine and Alecia gave understanding nods, while Leona’s curiosity was sated. Even though it hurt to admit, I didn’t lash out at my allies. Even if they could have endured it, I needed to conduct myself as a leader. I looked back towards Catherine. “So, my blood shall suffice?”
“Aye, it will. Won’t need more than a thimbleful, since you’re plenty strong. I’ll make the ink, then ready the seal depending on whatever Mother’s cooked up. Just in case, you should still be ready to hit the place with a lot of firepower, though.” Catherine extended her hand my way, and I nodded before explicitly giving her permission to draw a thimbleful. Blood willingly given was very different from blood taken. I could feel my strength ebb slightly from the cut I made, from which a single orb of blood formed and drifted to Catherine. That was a potent reagent with which many curses and blessings could be imparted upon me… and grant one of my teammate’s strengths. I turned to Alecia. “We are in a dangerous place, and you refuse to leave. I will permit you some of my blood if you swear to abide by my command until we leave this underground city.”
Alecia considered it for a moment before nodding.
“I shall need only a cup’s worth. Your claims that you are a blessed maiden who has only practiced chaste romance are true. I sense it in your blood.” Alecia truly needed to learn how to leave some things unsaid. The fact that she meant those words as genuine praise was somewhat irksome. I was the heiress of the Hiyo Clan. I could not partake in such frivolous debauchery. Not to mention the fact that Alecia was certainly untouched and Catherine could not have a lover. Leona had an entirely new body, too! “I thank you for this pact. Know that I shall hold it sacred not only by the word with which it was spoken, but by the spirit with which it was shared.”
Alecia gave me a bow before taking the cup of blood and drinking from it; thus, my gaze met Leona’s.
She gave a nod.
“Don’t hesitate to use full power, right?”
“Indeed. Do not let your guard down. If Keita is discovered, you will overwhelm their defenses with us, and we shall rescue them together.” I told her, before turning to look at all of them at once. “We are all strong, but we are much mightier together. Let us finish this fight and prepare for the conflicts to come.”
The more I looked at this place, the more I knew that confrontation with the corporations was inevitable.
War was coming, and I needed to learn and gather as many allies as I could now.

Keita never believed Alecia isn't powerful; it's just that the rich lady mindset annoys him and tends to get girls bad-ended. Also she behaves like it's inevitable that she will be in a relationship with Keita when there's no sign of that ever having the possibility of occuring.

I don't see where all the Alecia hate is coming from? Has everyone already forgotten her sigma mindset? The completely based "I wasn't concerned he was dead, since I was going to change that soon enogh anyways" alpha mentality? Give credit where it is due, despite Keita's beliefs she is far more predator than prey.
