Quick Update

This is going to just be a quick update. I missed the Tuesday update, and AMA week didn't really happen, because this month has gone from starting on an OK note to being a pit of stress for me. I'm behind on messages and comments here, and need to open up the Discord again too - a hallmark of me having a rough time is closing down on communication. Healthy? Definitely not.
Long-story short, my sister is continuing to deal with the heavy after effects of a severe mental health episode, and I'm her primary emotional support. I don't begrudge her this at all - she's an extremely heartfelt, kind and caring person who works with people in need when she's in a good head space. Being able to be a support for her when this happens is a blessing because I know she's not alone. It's also very much NOT great for me writing fun, sexy stories. (Oh, and did we talk about how this last AMA set of chapters was starting with Therapy? Yeah. Oof.)
I've got stress hives. I'm emotionally exhausted. I feel guilt over not getting enough done here and keeping on top of things earlier in the month, setting me up for a hard end of the month. This is the life of a writer, sometimes.
I've been writing like mad the last two days to try and catch back up. It's unlikely I can get everything still owed for the month done in the next two days (the 6 sponsored sets plus an FoF bonus), but I'll hopefully get at least a couple more out or better before the month turnover. But I also really, really need to file my taxes. Oh, and submit my presentation pitches to the writing conference I want to go to at the end of the year.
Alright, maybe this isn't SO quick an update.
I'll be working on Le Francais next - hopefully I can get it at least mostly done tonight, which leaves tomorrow open for me to tackle either OFG or the D&D Group story as a bigger release. I'll probably start responding to messages and comments here tomorrow - I'm in a writing zone right now (can you tell by how much I'm writing here?) so getting right back into another story should be productive.

Like a few others have already said, take care of you and your family first. Y'alls health is always more important than trying to pound out some chapters, especially when you are not in the right headspace for it.

Take care of yourself. We love your writing but family and self care should be your priority and if we need to wait a bit longer so you can taks care of that so be it. Its better than you burning yourself out. Take care and hope your sisters doing better

As someone who supports a sibling dealing with mental health issues related to a debilitating auto immune illness, I can understand your headspace. Please take time for yourself and if needed, get therapy or talk to someone yourself so you can support both you and your sister effectively without losing yourself in the process. Bottling this up as you say is far from healthy so find some kind of outlet to deal with it. Physical activity might also help. Take timeout as needed and take care of yourself.

I strongly encourage to take care of yourself, first and foremost. If you don't, you are at risk of burning out and losing more in the long term. Best of wishes to you and your family.

As someone who has been support for family going through both mental and physical trials, I understand how brain-draining it is. From the other comments I've read here, it seems nobody is going to be concerned about a couple late stories. Family comes first man; take care of your sister and your own health and us Patrons will still be here.

Look mate. You should never feel bad about putting family first. Coming from someone who didn't know he had sisters till close to 40...... spend as much time with them as you're able. Be that rock when she needs it. As much as I enjoy reading your work, I'll be just fine if you took a couple of weeks off from the schedule you've got mapped out in your head. If someone has a problem with it, bucket. Ban and ignore their stupid job. And if that's not enough, I know some guys with boats and a couple of swamps with gators in them.

But we provide our patronage here because we believe in supporting the real life, flesh and blood, actual human who creates that art. Without a healthy YOU, the art can't exist.
