Yupp. He grew up in the middle of a desert; not being able to swim makes a lot of sense. (More baffling are people who grew up in the UK who don't know how to swim. Like...we're not short of bodies of water. We're literally surrounded by it - nowhere in the UK is more then 70 miles from the sea.)
