Back On Monday! General Life Update

I'll explain why in a bit (don't worry, I'm not pregnant), but I want to say first that we're going to try to be back to regular updates on Sunday. We'll have some INCREDIBLY cute and lewd rewards up around Saturday as well which I know you're gonna love, so keep an eye out for that! We're really excited about this next chapter, and we can't wait to get back to work! Just some unexpected developments happened over these last couple weeks to slow us down a bit. Let's get into that now.
So... yeah. As most of you know, we have a house in Louisiana. I inherited some land after my mom passed away a couple decades ago, but we were only able to put a trailer on it five years ago thanks to your amazing support. We cannot thank you enough for this.
But if you've been paying attention to American politics, things have been getting kind of tense lately for adult artists. Oklahoma, our neighbor state northwest of us, is putting forth a bill to criminalize and imprison adult content creators and distributors. It's just a bill, it's not guaranteed to pass, and it's not in Louisiana, but... it's kinda scary, isn't it? There's also the possible gutting of FEMA, an organization that is extremely important in a state that is constantly under assault by hurricanes. Leslie's medication is under threat of being banned here. LGBTQ+ people and their rights are under attack, something we would fall under. And all of this is supported by the majority of people who live here in Louisiana.
And as you might recall a particularly harrowing life update from a couple years ago, Leslie and I lost our entire family. We're completely alone out in these swamps and surrounded by painful memories. We have no friends near us, no one we can rely on if things fall apart. A few months ago, our car broke down in a fast food drive-through, and we've since had to get a AAA membership just to ensure that we had someone, anyone who could help us in another event like that. We have each other, and your incredible financial support is obviously a godsend, but... things are going to be pretty bleak for us out here if things go bad.
After a lot of talk, we made the hard decision to sell our house. We love our house, we love our little peaceful paradise in the woods, but the longer we stay, the more we put ourselves at risk. If Patreon ever goes under or an adult content ban reaches a federal level, we have no employment prospects here in the woods. We have to go.
The good news is that we've had a realtor come out, and they're pretty confident it can sell within 3 months and for more than enough to get us the hell out of here. So that's exactly what we're going to do! We're packing up, selling the house and land, and moving to Portland, Oregon! We've got LOTS of friends up there, several comic places (including Hiveworks/Slipshine) are headquartered there, lots of conventions, and we're in biking distance to EVERYTHING. Friends, prospects, opportunities! Our careers (and ourselves) would be much, much safer up there.
We've already begun to pack and declutter so that the realtor can take good pictures. And unfortunately, this meant that the dick wall had to come down.
If you don't remember, the Dick Wall was a monument to the people who specifically donated more to help us get this house. It's stood tall and hard in our bedroom these last five years. But sadly... the stickers had to be peeled off, and were not salvageable (and in fact, took some of the wall with it. Gotta repaint now).
We still have the list of everyone who donated, though I doubt we can recreate the wall in a Portland apartment. Maybe make a poster out of it? Or maybe a special section on the Rock Cocks site itself? We'll figure out something to do to commemorate these proud dicks, but I just want to thank you all again to those who donated to put your name on a dick. We loved our little house in the woods, and we're going to miss it so much. Thank you for giving us this opportunity. Excited as I might be for a move to Portland, a part of me will always wish we could live in this house forever.
Don't worry, Bart and Nico are coming with us, too.

I was born in New Orleans and left LA for work a decade ago (for Missouri, so I didn't get much of a political upgrade). I will always love Louisiana, but I totally know I won't ever live there again. I have close friends, a married couple, that have a trans son and they made the choice to leave for Spokane to give their son a better life. It's big and scary leaving your home for a new one, but don't stay where the landscape is becoming hostile. Much love from someone who's made a big move.

I had to go back and find this post because the more recent post mentioned moving - Wednesday was my birthday too but with all the anti-trans stuff this past week I did not have a happy birthday. Anyway, I didn't get on the dick wall, but I've been following you both and this comic since you were in the New Orleans apartment, so I'm glad to see you both taking care of yourself. I bet you'll LOVE Portland. I'm still stuck in Florida, but I do have friends and family here, which is what makes it hard to imagine moving. You'll definitely have a chosen family there in Portland, and that matters the most. Beautiful pictures of the nature though. (And I think it's so unfair that such beautiful states like Louisiana, Florida, and other southern states are so politically red!!)
