For part 1 Sakura, the story acknowledges several times that she’s useless and the little she wins she gets, she can’t even do it on her own. The story very much puts intentionally puts her that and up until the first arc in shippuden. It’s a cohesive story arc. Rn Sakura is still half assing. She doesn’t even want to become a shinobi. Just because she’s useless in part 1 doesn’t make it bad especially considering she’s in only 1 arc and half.

Glad to see Eric is open to the song change, in the American release we didn’t even have Rocks, we had Rise, Power! and that lasted for the first 52 episodes before switching to this new song (Haruka Kanata). Lots of people like Rise, Power! better than Rocks, but I think a lot of that is nostalgia, kind of like Rock the Dragon for DBZ

I agree! Best naruto Op and they act like they don't give it even a second lol. But it was funny to see nevertheless. I guess the moral is not to go into reaction videos expecting them to react like you did. :)

I wish they like the song but I find it hilarious they don't like it. As someone who loved the song growing up this is an oddly refreshing reaction to it for me. After all, they aren't watching this at the ages we watched it.

This is one anime that I seen over and over and Naruto's story is one of the most important and beautiful story telling for an anime for me. I'm trying watching Naruto the blindwave way watching it once a week. I never done it that way. I love the zabuza arc even more now. But I like the chunin exam arc even better.

Given how much its gives away simply in character design and general story direction they've be warned to avoid it, so even if a dub version comes out they likely won't watch it so they can go into S4 completely Blind

Eric has the right idea. Kishimoto literally writes all his female characters into dirt. Their only focus is men and that’s it. Ive also noticed that the girls in Naruto can never win their own battles solo. In one of his interviews Kishimoto was asked why Sakura never played a bigger role (something like that) and he jokingly said ‘she’s just a girl’.....that speaks volumes to me.

Seems like Calvin is the only one who has a real problem with the shonen pacing. All of them know its not great but Aaron loves taking its time watching something, Eric just kind of ignores it, and Shane and Rick truly grew up with japanese videogame pacing.

Also to Note Sakura is not a main character. She is main supporting character, she’s in the same category as Neji and Shikamaru. She is only in one and a half arcs for the whole this first Naruto series.

Sakura was written badly in Naruto, the things she does in the chunin exams are pretty boring and doesn't add any character growth. A lot better in Shippuden and has one of the best arcs.

Two episodes a week for a 130 episode, 20 minute show is far from binging. I think it's a good compromise to satisfy fans while still keeping the reactions going over at least a few years, especially with Shippuden

I think it's more missing the old OP than disliking the new one. Give it time, folks. Give it time. They got really, really attached to the old one (and you might not always see *how* attached unless you have full length). That said, this OP was definitely my favorite as a kid. :D

The thing is at this point Sakura is not that interested or motivated to be a ninja. So while she has some good points that she could use better. Being a ninja is not her priority. Over the course of this first part of the series, that’s her arc essentially. Sakura can’t be useful until she chooses to be useful, she has to make a conscious effort whereas right now she’s just a passenger and is only really interested in Sasuke
