Daniel is not the antagonist either because they are both protagonists. And while they do butt heads, the show goes to great lengths to telegraph that they are “meant to be” partners/friends. There is in fact an antagonist (a shared one at that) and it is there all of s1 as a memory and as a destructive tenet; and later in s2 it’s there in the flesh: the “old” Cobra Kai.

Mten10th you’re right and you should say it. People who think otherwise are misinterpreting what the show is about. Sure, we are re-introduced into the TKK universe via Johnny, but Johnny and Daniel have equal weight as protagonists. Cobra kai the show = their continuing, intertwining story and journey. That’s why the show /works/. The final beats of this episode is the true launching point of the show.

Considering the creators of the show said that Daniel and Johnny are co protagonists, I'll go with their definition of the characters.

Johnny is the main character so Daniel is most definitely the antagonist to him.

I know in there youth Johnny was the bully and Mr Miyogi had to beat up some teenagers. But Really what Johnny did in this is no different then what Miyogi did and both did the right thing beating up teenagers. Daniel needs have talk with his daughter. She and her friends were in a wreck then have a drinking party.

Not bad guy, Antagonist, I'll never understand how people think Antagonist means bad guy. Your Protagonist can be a bad guy ie Death Note/Overlord/Dexter.
