I really want to personalize with Naomi but. Her character is garbage. Yeah hes your son, but he just killed billions of innocent civilians. S5 of the Expanse is bad. Marco is straight from the 90's

It is a survival instinct. It is how we evolved as a species. Great for when we were all tribal. Not so great now in the modern world, but it is still there wired into our brain.

Marco is a narcissistic psychopath. Unfortunately, masses of people have been shown to be drawn to narcissistic psychopaths, particularly when they feel angry and/or disenfranchised. They're great at manipulating people and giving speeches. One of the scarier things about human nature (and what it says about the future of our species) is how easily we're manipulated by figures like him.
