I like to hear what reactors are thinking about when watching. It was a huge deal when it was airing too, we all talked about it a lot. So when he brings it up, it's like the fans did at the time. It's kinda a huge influence over the background of the show, so it's pretty relevant.

On the topic of writing around Chevy Chase, apparently the original after credits scene would have had Abed give Pierce an edited copy of the game where Pierce could get closure by playing catch with his father. However, Chevy Chase apparently didn't feel like filming it which upset Harmon as he felt it was "the most important part of the episode and possibly one of the most important moments of the season".

I never said he's hurting or offending anyone by saying it. Nor is it that big of a deal. It's like some one always saying the "That's what she said" joke, when you repeat the same thing over and over can't help feel "ok we get it".
