NOT A SPOILER: Okay, so the reason for the lack of a good answer, is Keeley doesn't wanna break up, but Roy thinks he's only gonna drag her down while she's climbing and becoming more successful. He thinks she's better without him, and he (as Phoebe said, stupidly) has made the decision for Keeley's benefit. When they were explaining to Phoebe, Roy I believe was the one stating how busy they were and listing the escalation of how busy they are.
