I got spoiled by looking up Kobys age and it mentioning his mentor Garps full name just casually below the age, so I was pretty happy the Live Action decided to reveal it early. A lot of people dont make it to episode 314 before looking into what should be safe info and getting themselves spoiled just from seeing Garps full name.

Luffy is actually one of the most mysterious characters in One Piece. And it's crazy that we saw his dad when we were still in the East Blue. He is even briefly shown in the first Opening. I am scared they may reveal Luffy's father identity in Live Action season 2, so quite early as they did with Garp. So I'm happy you watched this episode before LA 2. So looking forward to keep going on this journey with you 😊 Love your theories, regardless if they are correct or not

No spoilers but I hope y'all are keeping note of the various groups. There's the seven warlords we've met before (Mihawk and Crocodile and others) who cooperate with the world govt, the four emperors we've just learned about who are the most powerful pirates in the grand line, the Revolutionary Army who we have just learned about, and the world govt. It's a very cool set up because I remember thinking before this point on my first watch that we've seen all the action focused on the sea at the moment (pirates and marines) and we don't really have much about what's happening on land and now you have the RA who are working to topple governments and kingdoms against the world govt

It's interesting to note that while Garp's explanation is that pirates are generally the third party (the world govt is trying to capture them and the revolutionary army doesn't care about them but attacks the world govt), Luffy is now technically more aligned with the RA since he's recently declared war on the world govt by burning their flag and attacking Enies Lobby

Without going into spoilers about Dragon, reflect on this: the World Government, this insane powerful organization, calls Dragon the number one threat/enemy. For YEARS, maybe more than a decade. That reflects how just dang powerful and resourceful Dragon is. Side note: You two are amazing at tracking and integrating prior information, it is really fun to watch you put together things in real time and arrive at theories (which may or may not be correct).

It’s so ordinary and commonplace a phrase as to be completely jarring! I thought I was watching the wrong show for a moment lol I’m shocked that I’d forgotten who Luffy’s father is. I must have known cos I watched over a thousand episodes long ago. It’s funny what goes and what I managed to hold onto. I remembered his grandfather. I'm pretty sure this is spoiler free, but what youre seeing is an old version of what Oda drew a long time ago. The four emperors, LIKELY, had not been fleshed out by this time and he wanted to drop this bomb on this episode. It kind of feels misleading a little bit from what I specifically know about the rest of the show. You've got some time before any of this actually comes into play. I'm not exactly sure why they didnt hint at the 4th one and I'm not sure I want to comment on it, nor do I think anyone should. But, if you're thinking about this logically, if Garp is talking about the 4 emperors, there are definitely four of them. He gave you guys current events so that fourth one is definitely there. Why else would he say that? You just don't know who it is. Later on you'll see why that is very strange to not show them. Likely had no idea what that person was going to look like when doing this part, I guess.

These two episodes are some of my favorite of the entire series!!! The massive lore drop, the Coby reunion, the dragon and Garp reveal, and even franky revealing his plans for building them a ship!!! Oda was in his bag for these episodes

so to answer you're question of why they spoiled garp. the first arc is very villain of the week so Netflix wanted to include a character that would push the strawhats to have to move around instead of like in the manga where they kinda just wander around beating up bad guys. thats why they decided to use garp's character to make it feel like the strawhats were being more actively chased around. i went down a rabbit hole cos i was pretty upset about the change lol. if they wanted that feel they couldve just added smoker imo

I think this isn't a spoiler, just my own conclusions on what was said in this episode, about the three powers that make a balance in the world. The four emperors apparently lead half of the world, so are they allied among themselves, or still rivals? If they are allies, then I guess the 4 of them together are equivalent to the 7 warlods (who are supposed to be a team), but if they are not allies, does it mean each one individually is as strong as the 7 warlords together? The manga/anime never makes that super clear, we each end up just making our own conclusions I guess.
