Also, although we see the good in some pirates through their perspective, you forget that a majority of pirates are "evil" and "good" pirates are a minority as King Cobra has mentioned. They go around pillaging, murdering, and causing chaos in the name of freedom, for their dreams, and for the One Piece. So their public reception ain't good. I also doubt Crocodile actually likes Luffy. He prob acknowledges him at most.

One Piece, and Shonen media as a whole doesn't really hand out deaths too often, but very ballsy of Oda to give us TWO in an almost near back to back situation. Same arc and very close episodes.

I had stopped One Piece for a very long time after Ace's death, and I never had the chance to know this line. It's as if Oda is speaking to his heartbroken readers through Jimbei.
