wasnt that gorgeous? honestly i had to watch it several times to take it all in. also i was bawling my eyes out at the brothers' story - my older brother (who i also had a "i dont like him" relationship with) died last year, like a month or two before this episode came out, and you can maybe imagine how much this story impacted me with that. but apart from that, also just the direction and animation in this is so stellar. absolutely incredible. ALSO!! in case you didnt catch that!! the outro song was "We Go" by hiroshi kitadani (the artist who sang the first one piece intro) but sung BY THE STRAW HATS!!! i love listening to song where they sing together, like the seventh intro wich is just them singing "We Are". anyway you should give it another listen, its so so cute!

Exactly!! imagine watching this after episode 1122, 14 years after this event, 600 or so episodes and countless arcs that came before this fan letter came out. It's regarded as one of one piece's best episodes and that saying a lot with 1100+ episodes and counting. As fans that are caught up with one piece, this fan letter blew our minds and hearts away. The feeling was awe-inspiring and insurmountable which is still crazy to think about because this episode aired after 1122 and a Lot of crazy awesome stuff has happened leading up to this.

Not canon but legit top 3 of all episodes for me. Oda understands so well that neither of us can ever interact with the strawhats directly, but we can all cheer for them and get something from this story to take with us.

What makes One Piece Fan Letter even more special for me, is knowing that it was directed by Megumi Ishitani, who is a huge fan of the series herself, and I can see her represented on the little girl, trying to find her way in the world, and being inspired by Nami and the Strawhats. This episode is not only a fan letter from the girl to Nami, but from Megumi to One Piece.

The detail that I liked is how no one has a name and even in the credits we see the pictures in the focus and these characters in the background, showing that they are just living in the world. Amazing!! A story about a fan letter that is also a fan letter to the story, representing even the types of fan!

There's so many tiny details in this, you could watch it 5 more times and still catch new stuff. Like how the only Straw Hat she met face to face was Usopp, but she had no idea, cause his bounty poster is of Sogeking. And the lipstick all over the little brother cause he ran into the Okamas

This is the One Piece fan's version of "Nothing Happened." Nobody had a name, none of them met any of the "strawhats" (the Nami fan girl didn't meet Sogeking), and the crew set sail without knowing the potential danger that the Nami fan girl saved them from. Despite all that, it's perfect.

This episode started a 6 month break that the anime took from the main story arc at the time. And i almost skipped it cause it wasnt a canon episode, but i decided to watch it anyways and was blown away by it. Even though i've watched it several times now it still brings tears to my eyes from all the different emotions they jam pack into this one episode lol

It's loosely adapted from a One Piece novel called Straw Hat Stories (its more a collection of short stories than a novel) written by Tomohito Ohsaki, obviously some of the events are based on what actually happens in the manga but, the majority of the story is not canon (that wont stop me from pretending it is though)

Whoo...I was NOT ready for this. We didn't get a chapter of this in the manga right? It was just a small couple of panels? But yeah very emotional first watch from me. Overall great representation of us, the One Piece community. Despite our hatred towards each others' opinions, we all support One Piece in our own way.

It's really not lol, there are like a handful of episodes that are this quality all the way through. More common to have an episode of mostly mediocre animation with a few nice scenes sprinkled throughout. Here's hoping with WitPiece though
