🕑 Added 2023-07-06 17:36:23 +0000 UTCProgress on the drakes is slow and steady but there is definitely a ton of work to do yet. I would say the overall sculpting phase is pretty much finished so now all there is left to do is texture and rig. Texturing is a fairly simple process but rigging is going to be the most challenging part.
I've been trying to experiment with different rigging solutions in hopes of being able to produce a much higher quality rig with more robust controls and readability. I've looked at options like rigify and auto rig pro and while they provide a really good way of rigging the basic body features, they don't really have a straightforward way of allowing me to customize and add my own unique features for parts of the body like the throat and genitalia. So I have ultimately settled on just doing everything manually like I had been doing in the past.
The rigging quality should hopefully be better than that of the Interceptor and at the very least match it. But with this character being quadrupedal it introduces a fair few challenges of it's own.
I'm really hoping to have this all completed by the end of the month but that will be determined on if I continue my focus towards this project or if I work on another project on the side.

I'm of the camp of just providing a simple rig with a simple IK system for the limbs. Some of the stuff I've seen with other rigs are neat but they seem to be very fragile if you do weird things to them like re-sizing the armature object and stuff.
