Forgotten Ruins (CG Complete Pack)
🕑 Added 2020-04-13 16:05:03 +0000 UTCLast week I passed the storytelling chair to a friend and he asked me to prepare a map depicting general city ruins. I realized that although it was a classic topic, I had hardly done it in the last two years. Although the game opportunity was already gone, the adventure between the ancient ruins was so inspiring that I made a map of it.

You may be used to the fact that a map pack doesn’t just contain one kind of map, but this time around I have decided that the other version of the ruins will be jungle themed. I’m pretty happy with what the atmosphere of the ruins and the jungle has become, I will do it again later, too.

What do you guys think about a modular ruin prop pack in the style you see here, general forest, jungle, desert, and other styles?
A post about online gaming options with my maps is coming soon, including webm and gif versions of some animations, but I'm sure you've already figured out gaming options, let it be Skype, Zoom or another virtual tabletop, given the special situation.
I hope you like these, stay safe, thank you for the continuous support!

First off. I love your work. And the Editor is great for the version you're on. One thing with the editor is making the scrollable access on the left folder frame easier to control would be a great update. And, I also agree with Juliet. Props like different cave openings for cave entrances that we can place on above ground maps so we can then lead into a modular dungeon... tents, sleeping bags, camp fires, carts, wagons, fences / boundaries / barriers. dirt for path laying. Thanks for your work and helping to bring our worlds to life.

Thanks for the feedback Juliet! I try to find the balance of releasing prop packs and standalone backgrounds because not all of the Patrons are interested in props. I’m really enthusiastic about finishing the modular ruin prop pack which will be released soon in various themes, also there will be different colored dungeon sets.

I love the backgrounds, But would it be possible to get more props, In particulare things like the modular dungeon pieces or the modular cave pieces. also things like city houses rather than whole city back grounds. These would allow us to create and expand our dungeons to a much greater degree. It would be an extra benefit if they came in multiple matched color sets

Great Job! will it be possible to have a FoW layer (shared vision of course) soon? I know we play with miniatures but having a digital character token (under miniature) would be perfect. In the FoW layer it must obviously be possible to insert obstacles to vision (broken lines from point to point like d20 or astral tabletop...

40grid means the grids will be one inch sized on a ~40” TV, 50”grids are for 50” TVs.

What's the difference between files named 40 and 50? I love your work at DD and have recommended it to many people. However, the whole naming system and file organization could use some improvement.

Great additional ideas Tony and Jason. Condition effects would be great too! Paralyzed, grappled, Hunter’s Mark - any visual elements for durations!

Excellent! thanks very much.

I LOVE this idea!!! Basically any spell effect with a duration of at least one minute with a visual component. Darkness, Sleet Storm, Fog cloud, Grease, Arms of Hadar, and others. I like Ryan's original list of the most used though - Mage Hand, Fairy Fire, Spritual Weapon. If I'm wishing, pally aura's would be cool too but would require a little more work for the DM each round to move the aura with the pally,

I also agree with Ryan, spell effect pack would be amazing! Also some way to add condition "effects" on tokens for characters would be spectacular.

Modular ruins would fit into almost any map I make in my campaigns. That would be awesome!

Big fan of anything modular - still waiting for a modular city perimeter wall :D
Adam Kaupisch
beautiful! Any chance you can do a snow version as well?

Also, Tamas, what I really need for EVERY game is a pack of drop in spell effects templates - like cone of fire, fairy fire, mage hand, spiritual weapon etc...it would be amazing to lay down a spell effect like "moonbeam" and have it light up the grid where the area of effect is. There is a plastic set for sale by Wizkid's - basically everything in this set as a particle effect would be fantastic: https://tinyurl.com/spell-effects-wizkids

Modular ruins would be epic.
