The feature that will let you use your own unity prefabs will come in May. I did not promise for this version that simply dragging a prefab or a unity scene will work, the operation and behavior of the Editor are more complicated, and the focus here was on making a stable version that could play the videos.

I cannot import any custom unity assets. Doesn't even seem to try to load, like the buttons don't link to anything. Very disappointing...

Any news? I asked this question 4 days ago, and it seem to just be ignored. Also I tried the demo and it immediately crashed and gives me DLL error. Very bad start.

Any news on the steam editor? keys being sent? delays? etc?

I just became a Patron - how do I get my hands on a Steam key? (I did not own a previous version of the software.)

I get that things don't happen on time (e.g. the editor will be released on 10/29) but what I don't get is the complete lack of communication. Seems like thumbing your nose at your potential clients.

So what's going on with the new editor?

29th or 30th depends on where in the world you are I guess. Dates roll over at midnight, and we know location will affect that. So looking forward to test drive the new editor.

I'm confused by the release date. When I look on Steam it states the release is 30th but most people commenting here seem to think its the 29th? There's been a real lack of communication about the release of this, lots of unanswered questions in the chat.

Looks to be locked until 10/29. There was an issue with steam needing a 2 week verification period, and then he mentioned something being linked to the patreon and needed to resubmit it, so I'm assuming it's 2 weeks from that point as well hence 10/29. I'm slightly frustrated at the issue, I wish he'd just put a download link to something we can access sooner than later, the present DD player crashes for me once a session, and at least half a dozen times when placing more than one asset on a map.

OK we're past 2 weeks, where is it?

I asked this earlier this year, and the response was that the new editor will not read earlier dd-files.

How does a patreon supporter download the interactive maps as I cannot see how to do this

I watched a little bit of the Twitch stream, when you want to import a background, it will open an explorer window just like you were opening a file on your computer. You browse to the correct file location and click the background and it pops right into the "scene"

Hey Sean. THanks for the reply. I have been watching a few videos on Steam to be prepared to run with this. I will take your word that this will simplify my life.

My next session is on 23rd Oct. Is the unity version available from the website? It says it's in early access in Steam. Is there some way to get the new version of the editor in time for my next game? Or will I need to keep using the old editor/player? (I will literally buy this multiple times in order to be able to use it for my next game!)

Steam shows it to be out on the 29th so I would wait and just get it from steam.

I'm new to the group and was just wondering If I should buy the editor from the website or wait for the Steam release? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Steam is simply the most popular gaming software market place. Learning curve is next to zero, it is the most stable, popular, and secure way for DD to offer their platform to us. Listing it independently would be much more expensive and overall less stable.

Call me a dinosaur but how does Steam work? It seems to me I have to install a new platform, create a new account, enter more information, and have that continuously run on my machine (security, CPU hog, etc....) relearn a new platform before I can even get to using DD.... I am not too thrilled about that. More things that can go wrong, etc....

Thanks for the update and all the hard work by you and the new developer team. Can’t wait to see everything fully functional again on the Mac. I’ve been running all my d&d video map sessions on a Mac laptop too.

Stablility uber alles!! Grateful for that. I didn't buy this app via Steam though so do I need to migrate to Steam in the future for updates or will there be a downloadable binary (as I originally received it) for that?

Sorry to hear about issues with the Mac version, but i appreciate all the efforts to sort it out! My Mac has run your software in every D&D game I’ve run in the last couple years…it’s a required tool!

Can you provide it outside of steam via direct download then remove the link when it finishes its review?
