Expanding Animated Battle Mats
🕑 Added 2025-07-29 13:21:09 +0000 UTCHey everyone! As many of you know, I've experimented with animated battle "mats" before, and now I’m excited to make them a regular part of our offerings!
These mats are intentionally designed to be flexible and versatile, without too many fixed details like walls or trees, so they can serve as impromptu maps when you need to pull something together in a specific style quickly, or you can easily customize them with your own 3D-printed props and create the perfect scene for your game.
While my primary focus remains on animated maps, there may occasionally be some 3D-printable props as well, just like the ice shards set or the cacti set that’s already available in the back catalog.
You can find the entire collection of our animated battle mats all in one place, ready for you to explore: Animated Battle Mats
A new addition to this growing collection is these lava-themed mats, created using carefully selected and stabilized drone footage and enhanced with lava flow effects and custom sound design.

And get ready — this is just the beginning! Each month, new animated mats will be added, bringing fresh themes and moods to your game table.
It's easy to find what you're looking for by category in the Collections

Dynamic Dungeons
That sounds like a really fun encounter mechanic. You can already do this with the Dynamic Dungeons Editor. Just go to the Particle Effects section and look for effects like "Blue Mist" or "Fog Cloud" — they’re perfect for this kind of shifting, obscuring fog. You can place multiple mist effects on your scene, move them around, and even toggle them on or off during the session for extra control.

I would love a mist map that randomly has open spots in the mist that move over time of the video. It would be fun for D&D combat, where if a player character is in the mist on their turn they are blinded, so it would require players to keep shifting around. Not sure if the Dynamic Dungeon Editor app allows one video to play over the other, but it would be awesome if the mist map was transparent and you could put whatever map behind it.

Do you have a link to the STL files for the lava mounds on the lava map and the lava bridge? Are they available or on myminifactory?
