The Wraith (1986)
🕑 Added 2021-03-22 10:06:02 +0000 UTCThe gang thing might have been cool when you had the edge but now there are three wraiths out there. Oh..you don’t know what that is? The ABZ are wraiths man! Ghosts! Evil spirits and it ain’t cool. Hop in your Turbo Interceptor, be sure to wear your racing helmets and head out to Big Kay’s Burgers cause Billy is making some with Thousand Island and Mayo the way you love em. It’s THE WRAITH this week baby.

A thing I like about this movie is that the is a supernatural phenomenon that they don't explain At All. And you have to come to the conclusions at the same time as the characters. If it was made now there would have half an hour of exposition about it

Haha I remember a kid dying in HS cause he hydroplaned in one

Dude I'm so glad I trusted my gut and only watched s1

Wraith kills by running into victims... in a Dodge. Hmmm

Stumbled on Super Dark Times on Hulu, it is indeed pretty heavy, not an action movie but it nails the Clinton era 90’s suburban feel. The dumbass conversations the kids have were pretty authentic and very Actionboyz, talking about jacking off to True Lies and whatnot. Well cast, one of the kids is in Ozark, nobody looks too old for high school which goes a long way

Unrelated but I was just listening to some Jimmy Cliff and on popped the song “John Crow” from the marked for death soundtrack and Steven seagal is listed as both songwriter and he’s definitely doing some singing on the track too. Sorry it just exploded my mind seeing that before my morning coffee
Does Gabrus mean Pacific Coast Highway by Kavinsky?

Kevin Smith is pathetic and gives marijuana users, the obese, and hockey fans a bad image. The only reason to cry at the end of Wandavision is the realization you could have used that five hours better, like watching Heavens Gate and some Russian dash cam videos.

The run of content from about 1 hr 23 to 1 hr 27 was as good as heroin for us in Debased Nation.

My head canon is that Gutterboy moves to Detroit and creates a new personality to cope with the trauma of his childhood and this movie. He now goes by Skank, and in The Crow, when Skank turns his head to the side and says "That's Skank," it's because he's dissociated more fully and referring to his friend from The Wraith.

I had never seen The Wraith before now despite being an older millenial well versed in the ways of TNT and TBS sunday afternoon programming. I can say it hits the exact sweet spot of 80s movies about both cars and or ghosts/ghouls that I totally get down with. I also like that it brought the 50's movie trope of "teens with nothing to do but drive around desert highways."

I remember in 1996 people were writing letters to Imagine Entertainment because Ron Howard didn’t put Clint in RANSOM and fans were upset.

Man I really don’t like how often I see and hear bloodflarts name. He’s fucking everywhere and he sucks. It’s really annoying.
Clint’s slasher movie Ice Cream Man is insanely kooky. Released from a mental institution, grinding kids into the ice cream and serving it to people kooky. Also has Olivia Hussey. It’s a fun bonkers movie

I’m 25, never saw this movie before this past Saturday, and found it incredibly watchable. Loved the look of everything even though it was clearly cheap. Loved the plot even though it made no sense. Also-I have done the hokey pokey.

Please relay such stories
John Ross Haynes
The actor who plays Jamie was one of my professors at Arizona State film school. He was also Menahem Golan’s( of cannon films) personal assistant for a while and he had some insane stories about that job.

Back in 2010, I got a PT Cruiser with flames on it for REALLY cheap from a friend's mom. And a few weeks after I got it it lost control on like half an inch of snow. Those things are definitely not built for NY weather

Are you the brother of an incredibly successful film director whose own career is strictly limited to roles that apply to someone with an odd shaped head, fucked up face and crazy voice? Recommend the podcast to him...

Here's Jay Leno with Charlie Sheen talking about the Dodge M4S Turbo. He mentions Oliver Stone's disappointment with him: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L50MOc-XmcA

I read the same rumors about Johnny Depp being on set with Fenn trying to land him a role during the filming of "Thrashin'" - I think the Boyz would love "Thrashin'"

I want to know what show Rodgers almost booked that would require full frontal only cause I want to know what lead actress/actor would have had to share the screen with his hog.

Not to look forward too much here but I'm looking forward to how they handle the latest Middleditch news.

I recently watched Caliber 9, a great Eurocrime movie. One of the all time best cold opens to any movie. It's currently on Prime free.
The Coin Guy
Kuffs have anything to say about racing for the pinks? Also kuffs as the wraith?
Jon Smith
I too recently saw Sitting Target off of the QT reco on that New Beverly Pure Cinema pod. It's probably a good primer to get into Eurocrime, gritty hyperviolence, super fucking misogynist, women are either evil or victimized a la Death Wish. There's a good doc on Eurocrime on Prime, the backstory on how they were made is more interesting to me than the actual movies but I've only seen a few

This type of movie truly fucked my expectations of what my teens would be like.

I would 1000% listen to a Salad Boyz podcast. I mean, I listened to the fucking Bread Cast and Deli Boys.

Can't leave Uncle Milty out of the famous big cock convo, you can get all that sauna talk on Gilbert's podcast. LBJ used to intimidate/gross out reporters casually whipping his hog out and pissing on the white house lawn in front of them

Watched this movie for the first time last night and felt like I had finally seen the movie Nicolas Cage has been trying to make for the last 15 years.
Dark Angel Of The Year
Cobra Kai is so much fun in that first season when it's mostly about middle-aged Johnny. Then for seasons 2 and 3 they lean SO HARD into the teen melodrama with 3 different dojos, John Kreese taking over, LaRusso neglecting his car dealership and bringing back every side character from the movies. The show definitely suffers when Johnny's barely in it. Kreese is just cartoonishly evil, they both give him a bunch of 'Nam flashback scenes and his arc with Johnny before he starts manipulating all the teens is ridiculous. "Grrr, I'm evil. Let me back in your life." "OK" "I betrayed you because I'm evil." "Oh no how could this happen" "Give me another chance" "OK" "I betrayed you again because I'm still evil" "Oh no how could this happen" I do love their dedication to putting in at least one giant ridiculous long-take fight scene with all the kids every season, and building the next one around the tournament again should be fun. Also yes Elisabeth Shue comes in for 2 episodes and she kills it.

If you Google "Elf wisdom of the child" the first result is a website called Janitorqueer.com. which one of you are running this site and why would you keep it from us?

The director of this also directed Hamburger: The Motion Picture which I watched earlier this year. Starring Chicago Bears linebacker Dick Butkus. It sure is something. we're dumb as fuck you gotta explain Stangerbot 3 times per episode for sure

I love Ozzy, but you throw Stan Bush on that soundtrack and I'm riding hard and believing in myself.
Stanger mentioned not seeing movies where people race for pink slips much before this movie (or something like that). Two-Lane Blacktop (1971) is a great one, Warren Oates races two young hippies, musicians James Taylor & Dennis Wilson (Beach Boys), across America for pink slips.
Dave McM
I’d forgotten it had a Jake E. Lee-era Ozzy song in it.
