I’ve been here for a couple months now and burned through most of the backlog so I get most of the running jokes and gags. I know the whole rannazzisi story of how he lied about being in the tower on 9/11 but the boys reference it a lot. Do they actually know him and have genuine disdain for him, or is it just one of a bunch of random references they use?

Just want to speak Vision Quest out into the echochamber for Sportstember or Shadow Wolves consideration. Shit holds up, checks all the boxes, the ultimate/only wrestling movie, a better teen version of Rocky than Karate Kid IMO cuz Modine's going up in weight to take on an undefeated monster twice his size and it's just got more balls and cheesy sentimental inspirational moments. Jake from Sixteen Candles pretending to be Native American(maybe this is where Seagal got it from?!), the manager from Major League is his alcoholic dad, Ronny Cox is Modine's dad, the old man from Home Alone is his grandpa.. Madonna, Tangerine Dream, solid soundtrack, that Lunatic Fringe song was in heavy rotation on the weight room stereo in high school. Don't blink or you'll miss Forest Whitaker.. and obviously Fiorentino, Italian for smoke.show

To give a pedantic answer about the GS-9 line: GS stands for general schedule and alludes to the federal pay scale for the position. It can also be used as a value to determine a rank equivalent command structure when contractors and general federal employees are working together. Miller would be a second lieutenant equivalent at a gs9 compared to Beckett being a sergeant, or a gs7. I only know about this from family that are retired military now working for the federal government. Watching Billy Zane in stuff where he's supposed to be likeable is so weird. My main thought watching this for the first time was "it's amazing how much more positive I am towards a movie these days if there are some solid gunshot squibs in the first few minutes".
