The best thing about Rollerball is probably the aesthetic and James Caan's understated performance. I'm not sure its making the point it thinks its making about capitalism

Long time first time. Careful with those water bottles, or crinkle-crankles as my golden retriever knows them. Saw him swallow a top, took him immediately to the vet for a puke, and 3 tops came out. Vet said they are the perfect diameter to block his intestines, which is seriously life threatening . Love y’all

On a recent trip to LA, I booked a night in Hermosa Beach because my kid had never been to the ocean. The next day we migrated to Hollywood (nice little 80 minute/24 mile Lyft ride on a Saturday afternoon). Wish we could’ve stayed in Santa Monica to save time, but you need to be an executive like Rodgers to afford a hotel near the beach in that town.

I was getting some heavy "The Apple" (1980) energy from this movie. Both filmed in 70s Germany as a setting for near future semi dystopia. Gotta do The Apple on shadow wolves. One of the first Cannon Films movies, directed by Menachem Golan, and completely insane.

In speaking about Chomsky and what sports says about society, I had a professor in college who said and I'm paraphrasing but "Look at societies through time and look at the biggest buildings they had and it will tell you what they value most." And that always stuck with me because when you look at modern societies biggest buildings its either skyscrapers that house commercial/financial interests, big malls, and sports stadiums. And Stanger bringing up the Roman Coliseum certainly also points to what was a point of emphasis in that society.

Man I used to skip this movie so much while channel surfing back in the day. It doesn’t really lend itself to dropping in halfway through like other cable mainstays. I’m glad I finally watched it all the way through. Somebody else said it here or on Reddit, but within this two-hour runtime there’s a good 85-90-minute movie.

James Caan rules. I love him. Like Gabrus i fell in love with him in Bottle Rocket. That super quick cut of him playing the piano "Hey there Bob you got a beautiful house" was the funniest thing i'd ever seen. He's a fun twitter follow too. Good old guy account.

Did one else think this while watching this? I had never seen this before and some of Caan's acting in the quieter moments reminded me a lot of Adam Sandler's acting when he goes soft and seriousish in some of his earlier roles.

I'm never trying to watch a movie on Pluto Tv again, so frustrating. Also, they burned like 5 trees for this fucking movie. I liked the movie, but these older movie productions did not give one shit. So many cars left at the bottom of lakes or cliffs, dead ferrets, burnt trees. Goddamn.
