My dad was a huge Miami Vice fan and because of it, he’s always been a huge Luis Guzman fan. It always struck me as odd how excited he’d get when he saw this random guy pop up in a movie, but I guess he made a big impression in the two episodes he was in.

Was born in Miami and yeah, it's only getting worse. The one thing it still has going for it is the food culture. Cuisine from Haiti, Jamaica, Cuba, Trinidad and the Bahamas. In addition there's great food from transplants and snow birds (legitimately good pizza, bagels and poutine) as well as solid Mexican, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese and Korean spots. But yeah, the traffic, parking and shitty people ruin what would otherwise be a paradise and I'm glad I no longer live in Dade County.

This was the first time I watched this show so I was perplexed when the theme song was the song played in between every race at the palm beach kennel club. I must have heard that song a thousand times skipping work betting on dog races… paying bookies… drinking dollar beers. Super fun to see all the spots in miami from 1984 that look the same today. The airport looks the same. God miami has always been a shithole

Just on some of the character parts in other episodes of the show. 6 episodes later Bruce Willis has his first credited acting role as a scumbag wife beating arms dealer. The episode Milius talked about is the one featuring Reb Brown. The episode Irish Eyes are Crying has both Jeff Fahey and Liam Neeson. Dan Hedaya plays both an Internal Affairs investigator and one of Frank Zappa’s goons.

Having a Cuban father who came to America in 1970, with the majority of the family staying in Miami and my dad moving to Louisville, KY, making me and my siblings, this was major father/son bonding time when I was 9. I still remember seeing Ed O’Neill and Bruce Willis for the first time. And from 1984 on going to Miami to visit grandma and the gang, I remember my 21 year old cousin doing coke on the kitchen counter next to grandma, who was like a Spanish only speaking Catherine Scorsese. Also, for the record, my dad sounded just like Al Pacino in Scarface and hate when people say Al’s accent sucked.
