Loved Hunter even as a kid. I don't remember much about it airing live, but my dad taped a few episodes and I would put them in from time to time, especially as I got older and started getting into other Cannell stuff through TV Land (mostly Rockford and the A-Team). Hope you guys eventually get a chance to do Sledge Hammer for a Zombie Squad ep. Incidentally, I caught a TNG episode (Allegiance from season 3) earlier directed by a Hunter director, Winrich Kolbe, and found myself super impressed with it. I've never been a huge Star Trek fan but I often will throw it on shuffle as background noise because it was on in my house all the time growing up. This episode almost immediately sucked me in though; the performances he gets out of the cast (especially Patrick Stewart and Jonathan Frakes) are outstanding and shockingly nuanced for syndicated pulp TV, and he's pulling out serious film director moves, like shooting a conversation between a Picard imposter and a suspicious Riker in extreme close-up, changing their positions in frame to show their control over the conversation as Riker becomes more confident he's not the real Picard like a Fincher movie. There's even a scene with Picard and Crusher that might as well be straight out of a mumblecore darling, with sparse dialogue and most of the communication done through action. Kolbe apparently never did anything but TV, and mostly Star Trek at that, but I honestly wonder what he would've done with a full-length film, even if he had just directed Insurrection or Nemesis.

I'm adding a +1 to the Nana's that love Hunter. When I was young my grandmother used to spend the summers with us and most of our one on one time was me hanging out with her watching Hunter on the small TV in her room. It was her favorite show.

Excellent ep. Please cover the 3-part and episode City Under Seige (season 5, eps. 11-13). The it’s got the dad from Brady Brunch playing a sleezy official and Erik Estrada. With a climax at the Griffith Observatory. Pure 80’s.

Was only vaguely familiar with Hunter, very entertaining episode. I watched the pilot too. It's fun; Stanger briefly mentioned that Brian Dennehy is in it -- he guest stars as a ball-busting psychologist trying to 'tame' Hunter (à la the shrink trying to handle Riggs in Lethal Weapon) but spoiler alert, it turns out Dennehy's the real sicko!

Only just now watched the Hunter episode. My biggest delight during the show (aside from the opening triggering ancient childhood sense-memories) was Kellye Nakahara! She was a regular background actor in MASH and eventually fleshed out into Nurse Kellye with a whole episode centered around her in season 11. She’s a Hawaiian native, painted a bunch, and sadly passed away in 2020.

Truly a who’s who of legends. I remember Strother Martin popping up as a drunk tight rope walker. I used to work QC for a company that made dvds and blu rays and HGWT and VEGA$ with Robert Urich were office favorites, especially after Leslie Nielsen blew the head off of Binzer’s girlfriend.

I know that Rodgers' will do better research than I can, but if you guys do Walker, Texas Ranger, can I suggest "Fight or Die"? Walker goes to prison to stop an evil warden (Charles Napier) who is having prisoners fight to the death and broadcasting it over the internet. It also stars Macho Man Randy Savage, Richard Norton, and Frank Shamrock who is the adopted brother of Ken Shamrock. Really been enjoying the new Zombie Squad format!

Gabrus brings it up as a reference, but I can’t recommend Have Gun Will Travel enough. Second is episode has a “young” Charles Bronson, and it’s only a half-hour show. Excellent, fun stuff. Richard Boone also has a fantastic ass.

It's clear that stuff like A-Team, Magnum, MacGyver, Airwolf, Fall Guy, Rockford, Wiseguy, Sledge Hammer!, Mike Hammer, Remington Steele, Incredible Hulk etc. are the obvious picks (I think that Knight Rider has been ruled out) but Moonlighting's a good call, and I hope that dead ends like Misfits of Science are eventually considered.

You can fly commercial with body armor no problem- just not wearing it. It’s fine in carryons and checked bags. I’ve done it a bunch (for work) and have never had any TSA person ask about it or even pull the bag off the scanner to look inside.

And yes, Riptide is absolutely dumb fun. I also HIGHLY recommend you guys check out Matt Houston. It's a rich hunky Texas guy (Lee Horseley) who has millions but investigates crimes and is often surrounded by a bevy of beauties. It's got guest stars, car crashes, bikinis, and even a killer robot in the episode "Joey's Here". It's right up there with the best of 80s cheese

Obvious choice, but I hope the boyz get around to Moonlighting before too long. The whole first season is fun. I dropped out a couple seasons later when put the whole show on Curtis Armstrong's shoulders.
