I'd be willing to help, of course. I'm usually, because of timezones, at least a few hours late to the youtube uploads. A few people who know the show could moderate comments before you go in to read/answer would certainly be helpful to avoid spoilers. Would require timing/communication, I guess.

I'm sure that you'd find plenty of people willing to help you out, because it's welcome "work" if it means that the person we enjoy spending time with while they watch the reaction doesn't get spoiled on something because someone else just couldn't help themselves. Reactions to Buffy have been happening in a big way for a few years now and so there's people who have plenty of experience dealing with people in YouTube comments, Patreon comments and even Discord comments. So in short, I don't think it'd be hard to find willing and able volunteers if you put out any feelers.

I do have two lovely comment moderators on the channel but I was kinda thinking about asking here if anyone else wanted to help because I feel like it's an annoying job and I hate to burden people with it 😔 The last thing I want is for people to have to "work" with the channel as it is there for fun and relaxation, so it's a tricky one for me. Perhaps I can put the feelers out though!!

Sorry, yes that's right! The videos are in a watch a long style because sharing the full footage is illegal 😔 in the beginning when I was working out what to do, most viewers asked for audio off so it's what I went for.

Since you specifically talk about not googling, because you don't want any spoilers: I'm guessing that'll be about that time that some Youtube commenters will start not holding back. (They always come, sooner or later, sadly.) It'd be best to have a few people with moderator rights on Youtube, if you want to stay unspoiled. It'd also mean waiting until the spoilery comments are removed before going in to read the comments, of course. (It's a pity, because the quick interactions in comments between the creator and viewers are what make a good community good. But it's the internet, so we can't have nice things without some safeguards.) Thing is: You just can't unread those "can't wait til she sees how x does y." once you've read them...

It's really not helpful for the series, though. It's more of an amusing thing to watch if you just want a little more after the series is done. (Or after a few seasons, maybe.) I would never consider it helpful to understand the series better. For that, it'd just be an unnecessary distraction at this point.

The lore in Buffy is rather slow in coming, It does explain everything eventually. If you wanted to know a bit more about it, there is a prequel movie. It was released a few years before the series, It is very silly and not great. Kind of like the teller of the story was very high. But it could give you a bit more nonspoilery info about Buffy's life before Sunnydale if you want.

Preaching to the Horse's Mouth

Probably one of my favourite season 1 episodes. We get to move some of the greater plot stuff along with more of the Master and his plans, the reveal/misdirect of the Anointed One at the end, just some real good stuff here. And of course all the character stuff with Buffy and her duties as the Slayer being at such odds with her trying to live a regular life. All of that stuff in particular is just done so well, Owen being fascinated by death, trying to decide which "version" of Buffy he likes better, (of which of course he picks the one she'd rather he didn't) even Giles' joke about not being able to date and slay at the same time, all bringing us back around to the central premise of the episode. The poor dear just wants nothing more than to be a normal girl and all the Slayer stuff just keeps getting in the way 🙁
