I have to agree that it is very similar to the first season so far. So many comments on YouTube said that season 1 was not very good, but I have to say I haven't noticed anything different between seasons and I am GLAD! I'm expecting changes as Buffy grows older, sure, but it still looks and feels the same and still has the monster of the week/story line alternate episodes. So far 😆 I didn't want to see a drastic change as I enjoyed the first season so much 💜

I always really like this episode. It's such a great follow-up to last season and it's finale. Visually and in some ways tonally it's still very reminiscent of season 1, but a little darker, a little more adult. Aside from all the stuff about Buffy dealing with her trauma from basically dying, we start to lay the groundwork for even more character development. The love triangle (rectangle?) hasn't completely disappeared. Will there be any more fallout from "the dance?" Miss Calendar and Giles seem to be getting more friendly. Cordelia is getting more involved with the gang, even stepping up with some words of wisdom for Buffy. And you can't tell me that Snyder isn't starting to grow on you at least a little😆 And let's not forget about the Anointed still hanging around "I hate that girl!" Gets me every time😆

"I think everything is back to normal now." - Juliette One of the things that makes Buffy be put on almost every list of top tv shows of all times is it never falls into the "everything resets at the end of each episode" trap found in so much television. Characters actually change and grow, and events impact that transition, which makes all the call backs so satisfying. This season didn't just start a new arc, Buffy had to deal with the fall out from last season. There are definitely more campy filler episodes to come, but I think this is where the journey officially starts. and the season 1 library scene is where we first see what the cast and writers have to offer..

It DOES give her a more "human" side, you are so right. Not everyone is going to be nice constantly. That is a great way of looking at this!

I like how this episode introduces the idea that while Buffy may be good she might not always be nice.

This a season opener I tend to return to especially for the context it gives to season 1. Season 1 has a lot of campy humor, but the library scene in the finale shows it can hit those serious tones and to follow it up with an episode around what amounts to PTSD ... quite the tonal shift? Will we return to the camp or go some place new? Tune in next week to find out! (End radio announcer voice)

Yay! I'm glad you are excited for this one! Yes, it's just one episode per week for a bit because of what I posted about but I'm doing okay and getting through each day as it comes. I'm hoping to get back to recording next week!
