But Nixon has his moodswings, you got that right. ; ) But he was also badass. "he was given a map by Winters, detailing all the German artillery positions in Normandy, and, realizing its importance, ran 3 miles to Utah Beach to pass it up the chain of command. Command was so thrilled with the map, that they sent the first two tanks that landed at Utah Beach to aid the 101st. This not showing in EPISODE 2 but did happen.

Wow, that episode was amazing. And intense! Just when it looked like there was no hope left for our heroes, their backup arrived and just obliterated the enemy forces. It was very sad to see how traumatised Blithe was, and that he didn't make it out. I'm sure there were thousands upon thousands of men who's story mirrored his own. So sad. I'm loving watching this series for the first time along with you Juliette, and I'm very much looking forward to seeing what might happen in the next episode.

That little bit at the end about Blithe is one of the rare bits that the show gets wrong. He recovered from his wounds and continued to serve and was awarded both a Bronze Star and Silver Star for his service in the Korean War. He died in 1967 aged 44 from a perforated ulcer while he was stationed in Germany. He was buried at Arlington National Cemetery with full honors.
