🕑 Added 2024-08-07 21:00:04 +0000 UTCSo, EVERYTHING is new π I'm curious to know what people think of this addition...
I (belatedly) have finally noticed how tall Amy is! She's just lovely, isn't she π₯°
I hope you all enjoy, and thank you to everyone for your well wishes on my last post! I'm feeling SO much better. I took the day off on Monday and spent it resting, which has helped greatly. I will try hard to do that more in the future when I'm sick. It really does make a difference. Who'd have thought....
Just quickly, please can I gently remind everyone again about spoilers! Let's all channel River Song here.... π anything involving a future episode please can it be off limits. Thank you to those who help keep these comments spoiler free π If you do see a spoiler, please feel free to let me know so I can make sure to delete or not read the comment. Thank you!!

I bought a McVitites Digestive Biscuit a few months ago because I thought they were HEALTHY and good for my digestive system π€£π€£

The Daleks shot down the planes during the day. The entirety of the Empty Child/Doctor Dances happened at night, so the Doctor wouldn't have been there to hear it. Jack would have - Jack the con artist, professional liar, and all-around cad. No reason why he'd share it or talk about it unless he could make a quick buck off it, which given the Daleks would be unlikely.

Doc: "its a jammy dodger!" Jules: "oh its just a biscuit!" Juliette! Just a biscuit?? My little British heart breaks!
Jim
We all have varying experiences with this show. She asks for our thoughts and our feelings. Those are mine.

It stands to reason. The London Blitz occurred from September 7, 1940 to May 11, 1941, a very short period of time. Both the Empty Child and Bracewell's Ironsides existed in London during the Blitz. Which means that, at the very least, the Empty Child was almost certainly looking for his mommy at the same time Churchill was calling the Doctor. Also, Captain Jack was inspecting the privates, engaging in corporal punishment, and almost certainly earned a dishonorable discharge.
Oliver
I guess since the London Blitz sadly lasted for several months, it is rather unlikely. I guess the 10th doctor or Jack would have noticed Dalek weapons shooting down the Luftwaffe...

I actually have that Dalek "To Victory!" poster! My brother got me it as a gift.
Tobly
Was that ever confirmed or is it just a fan theory?

The New Daleks... Damn my eyes if they're not the flipping Power rangers.

This Doctor, dealing with Daleks. Meanwhile, across town, the Empty Child.

This is SO TRUE! I look back now and I felt EXACTLY the same when David first took over. And I know I'm going to feel EXACTLY the same when we lose Matt π€£π The endless cycle of pain...
Juliette Gaming
That is cool!! I'd imagine there'd be LOTS of red ones then!
Juliette Gaming
I hate skittles π€£
Juliette Gaming
Oh man.... At least they listen to fan feedback, I guess!
Juliette Gaming
Yeah, I liked the bright colours but your suggestion sounds good too! Maybe one colour WOULD be nicer....
Juliette Gaming
Yeah, those cracks are definitely connected!!

If only the Daleks were friendly and gave out cups of tea! They'd be quite useful π OOH I thought that the Daleks were pretty much the same as what I've seen up until now. That's good to know!
Juliette Gaming
I like the colours!

These Daleks were pretty much not well received. In fact, they were jokingly called the Mighty Morphin Power Daleks. π€£π€£ I'm not usually a fan of Dalek episodes, but I will say that in Moffat's run I do give him kudos for at least trying to use them a little differently.

One thing I like about this episode is that it's where the series stops trying to pretend that we'll believe that THIS TIME, they REALLY killed the last Dalek. Every previous Dalek story in the revival series tried to act like they were finally all dead, and even brand new viewers realized that wasn't gonna happen pretty quickly.

Every new Doctor has to earn their place as the Doctor. How well they do that for you determines what rank they get if some asks about your favorite Doctor.
The Dog Walker
Don't tie them so tight.

Jules, you loved Chris and might have been upset initially when David replaced him because you didn't like the thought of any new Doctor "replacing" the one you loved. But as you experienced with them David didn't replace Chris or take anything away from his memory of being the Doctor..David just built on what had already been established and created NEW memories. Now you're probably experiencing some reluctance accepting Matt 100% as "the Doctor" but it's the same as before. Matt takes nothing away from the memories of David as the 10th Doctor, he builds on what Chris and David created before him which can never be replaced or forgotten. He's just building a different version of the Doctor on their shoulders. We should be thankful for what Chris and David gave us and be joyful to move into another "different but kinda the same" Doctor era with all new personalities, experiences and sensations. And FWIW, you'll probably be wrecked as well when Peter takes over from Matt...heheh.

Your correct on guessing that the new coloured daleks have each a rank, it goes as follows: White = Supreme, Blue = Strategist, Orange = Scientist, Yellow = Eternal and Red = Drone. In fan expanded media there is also a Green one which would be a Geneticist. This shouldnβt class as a spoiler, more of just which rank goes with each colour. The ranks were mentioned in the episode. ππ
demonic-myst
Thesw darleks have ranks and stricture like orange is a engineer blue is a scientist But bo the reception was bad and that led the team to not do much with them
The Dog Walker
The Dalek's escape for the same reason Darth Vader escaped in SW4.
Geo
Despite this being my least favorite episode of the season, its still pretty decent. Honestly I've always referred to these Daleks as the skittle Daleks π
Casterborous
people hated the multicoloured daleks, which is really a shame cause they were gonna have a bunch of potential upgrades and features, but the production team buckled to fan outrage and they quietly faded from appearance over the next few years
Brian
Reception to the new design was certainly mixed. Up until this point, there had been three mainstream Dalek designs in Doctor Who (two in the classic era and the bronze/gold look of the modern era), but they all stuck to the same basic shape. This was a step away from that, and some fans were very critical of the colour schemes and the new shape, particularly the humpback - which apparently was so prominent as a result of construction errors behind the scenes.
Dave
I like the shape of these daleks big and scary but they should be one colour would of been nice for them to have the 80s imperial dalek white with gold hemispheres design
Tobly
I've always liked this episode, I feel that many don't but this one is a good one for me One thing I don't like is the dalek design, I understand why they changed it because you always need to change things but I just feel that this design is a bit weird (although it's better than recent dalek design imo π)
Oliver
The colourful Daleks didn't go down well with the fans, I personally don't like them either, I think the rather absurd tank-like shells work better in the older look. By the way, the crack on the side of the star whale and here also has the same form as the one in Amelia's bedroom.
Jim
I will say that rose and David were the hardest to move past. I was bummed for weeks after loosing them
Lime Pie
I'm happy your feeling better :) I know a lot of people don't like this episode, but I've always really liked it. Also, the way that dalek asked "Would you care for some some tea?" has always stuck with me. The daleks have had many designs over the years, so having a new design doesn't bother me. The original design was more blue and white (you couldn't tell though because it was black and white).

This is my least favorite episode from series 5. It's fine, it's just there. I enjoy Amy, the Doctor and Winston's banter a lot, and I love the Daleks scheming to use the Doctor's anger against him. Some people feel very strongly about the Dalek's design in this episode, but I am indifferent.
Juliette Gaming
Yeah, it can be really hard to get attached quickly! I wonder if that's something that I will ever get used to? I think the last episode really helped, that ending scene with Amy was wonderful. And I've also been trying not to think about David π
Jim
Itβs ok. Really took me a while to get into this doctor. David had me as soon as he found fruit in his dressing gown.
