i liked the final scene hehe. i think amy deserves to be back as a human but she is really bad for willow, especially right now. i wish she would just go on her way. i love season 6 so much. its very dark but I enjoy that. i think they deal with a lot of issues. the characters really grow up and deal with adult things and sometimes growing up is dark.

HEHE!! I will say that in the comments in the future 😉

"Season 6 is actually my favorite season." PREACH... :)

Singin' my song... :)

Season 6 ALL THE WAY. It goes the farthest, cuts the deepest, takes the biggest chances. I love all of it, but if anybody tries to throw shade at it online, all ya gotta do is say 4 words: "Once More, with Feeling." There's no rebuttal... :)

Juliette Gaming

Yeah, it's definitely SO much darker than the others and you're right about the upbeat undertone. It just doesn't seem to be there as much as it was in the past!

Britney

I've never considered the even number/odd number seasons before, but now that you mention it, it's the opposite for me. Seasons 2, 4, and 6 (the even numbered seasons) are the highest on my rankings. lol

I don't really dislike season 6, but it would be pretty low on my rankings. I actually find that for Buffy, I have some sort of inverse Star Trek movie rule: the seasons that I most enjoy are the odd-numbered season, whereas the even-numbered seasons...while still good...just aren't quite as entertaining to me personally. I also feel like it's partially to do with each season's "Big Bad"...i personally find them less interesting in seasons 2, 4, and 6.

There are 7 seasons of Buffy. One of them has to be a fan's least favorite. For me it is season 6. Also, there has to be a reason so many persons feel the need to defend season 6 online. If you can draw meaning or personal relatability from the season arc, great, more power to you. On the surface, I have no objection to the overall season arc and there are several great episodes, but there are some upcoming episodes and scenes which taint the whole season for me. BTW, season 7 is great.

I find a lot of season 6 tough going - not because of poor writing or performing (always of a very high quality) but just because I find it less generally optimistic than other seasons. Even at its darkest moments Buffy usually does not lose sight of the light at the end of the tunnel. But in season 6 this upbeat undertone seems dimmed or muted. A problem I also find affects my liking for Angel's series too.

Britney

I can relate. I was in 8th grade when season 6 was airing, and during that time, I was severely bullied in school. I was in a constant state of depression and anxiety. Watching Buffy each week was the one thing that helped get me through. It's an interesting coincidence that it happened to be this season, of all seasons, that was airing at the time.

Isaiah Bryant

I also LOVE seasons 6 and 7 so I mayyy be biased

Knowing how the show ends, I think Buffy’s character arc is incomplete without Seasons 6 and 7. We fans have been arguing about the quality of them both since they aired but solely as a character piece I think ending Buffy’s story in The Gift would have felt lacking.

A bit more than kissing 😱 you're right - the show has grown up! I think about this a lot. We've seen the cast grow and change so much over the years. It's been just the best journey. I'm so happy I began watching. I can't imagine going through life without having seen Buffy now 💜

I thought it was smashed (original definition) in the Halloween episode...

Some like the high school episodes better, some like the adult episodes better. I'm a unicorn - my favorite is Season 4!

Maia Brodsky

Season 6 is one of my favorites. I know it's the most controversial season as far as how people rate it, but I love it.

Claire Eyles

Season 6 is my absolute favourite season. I have rewatched it so many times I can quote whole swathes of different episodes.

"And I can’t help feeling like people who don’t like season 6 have either never experienced depression or don’t want to be reminded of it." I half seriously sometimes wonder this too. In all seriousness, I don't think that's true for everyone. There are some people who don't like season 6 for other reasons (the Trio being one of them), BUT, I know there are some people who don't like it because it isn't clicking what they're trying to show with the season. I've seen comments from people on other reactions to this season that say they didn't like it at first because they didn't get it, and then later, they liked it when they realized it was depicting depression and PTSD. The same thing happens a lot with The Body. People often say they didn't care for it when they first saw it, but then they lost someone close to them and now they love it, or even that it helped them deal with loss. I'll be honest--when I watched season 6 for the first time, I didn't care for it, except for OMWF, one or two others in the middle, and the final three episodes. But I didn't get it then. I just didn't understand Buffy's behavior at times, or Willow's, because I didn't see all the foreshadowing leading up to it. Now, there are maybe five episodes I don't really care for (I won't say which because of spoilers), but the rest I love. It's weird that I didn't get it though, because I have both, so I feel like it shouldn't have gone over my head. Sorry for the long comment. I really do love season 6 as a whole, though.

Mathilde Sgherri

I love season 6. I watched it as a self loathing teenager and seeing Buffy go through that, seeing that an amazing heroine could go through the same dark place I was in helped me so much. And I can’t help feeling like people who don’t like season 6 have either never experienced depression or don’t want to be reminded of it. I might be wrong of course 😅

I never noticed the Janus statue in the background of the Magic Box until now! @ 35:07

"They gonna end up kissing..." Well the show really grew up. And now... The depressed girl with PTSD and the evil thing in a relationship... what could possibly go wrong...

Britney

Ignore the naysayers, Juliette. We all see the show through different eyes. I'm glad you're enjoying the season so far. As mentioned previously, season 6 is my second favorite season after season 2. Some of my favorite episodes of the show are still to come this season, so I'm excited.

Mrs. Peacock

Love this comment! Admittedly, season 6 had me depressed a bit when watching for the first time at one episode per week, and I don’t like everything in the season, but I really do love it. And for me, more Buffy is more Buffy - they could have gone 20 seasons and I’d still watch haha. And if they stopped at S5, like you said - no OMWF, etc etc.

Jonathan Hall

Season 6 is actually my favorite season. I can understand why others don't like it though. If Buffy ended at season 5 I think that would be a great place especially with how it ended. But season 6 hits a chord I've never really seen before or after in a TV show. And that makes it special to me. I don't like to talk about future seasons too much but season 7 is still quality Buffy. Always, happy you're enjoying it too 😊
