Dr Who 3x12 The Sound of Drums Reaction
🕑 Added 2024-02-28 21:00:04 +0000 UTCI tell you, there's very little chance of someone watching this episode and not trying to tap their fingers ๐คฃ
So, The Master has well and truly established himself on Earth. Good on him, I guess. He's done a fair bit more than I normally achieve in 18 months! I don't really share the same goals though, so I can't really compare.
I hope you enjoy this episode before the big finale ๐

Hey from youtube! I decided today to join your patreon so I could see your reactions of Doctor Who to the fullest. Great reaction. These last episodes of season 3 are really good. I can't help but like the Master and also hate him. I've seen the Master in some of the Classic Doctor Who episodes. It's just really cool to see him here once again. I look forward to watching your reaction to even more Doctor Who.

It's still not working ๐ญ I might have to look into getting a VPN for times like this. Thank you so much for trying, Colin!

Sadly it's not available in my country!

This episode was released in 2007. The first AVENGERS movie was released in 2012. Which means that the airborne carrier in DW came before the airborne carrier in the MCU. I know... Stan Lee created the first helicarreir for Strange Tales in 1965. But still...

As regards that children in need special i've posted a link to it on the BBC YouTube channel https://youtu.be/4I76p1cZbq4?si=h9YGfM120rXuRAuF

Hi Julie The Master first appeared in the classic Who serial The Terror of The Autons. The serial was 4 episodes of 25 minutes and it is a 3rd Doctor story. Like all classic Whos it is before the time war so there are no spoilers if you decide to watch it. The Timelords have beached The Doctor on Earth and the Tardis is not used in this story. Also Jo Grant is introduced as a new companion to the Doctor. This story is also the earliest Dr Who story that I remember watching.

This was such an epic storyline, can't wait to see your reaction to conclusion. The reference to 6 million, at the time there was around 6 million people on earth. Now we are closer to 8 million. Scary stuff.

Have you ever tried Voice Typing? It's become very accurate nowadays and can even be used to insert emojis and such. Maybe try it out and give your fingers a much needed rest!

I've actually had to stop replying to all comments as it was taking too long each day ๐ญ I also have stopped replying on my phone as I was and still have injured myself from replying to too many on my phone ๐ญ so now I mostly do it on the computer, phone sparingly. I'm getting old, Neil! I am breaking body parts left, right and centre ๐คฃ

500 videos and about 50,000 comments/replies. You must have some serious calluses on your fingertips from all that typing! ๐

Not a bad idea

Yeah, I might just do it separately as it's got copyright issues from what I've seen of other peoples postings of it on yt so I'm not wanting to risk it on a full episode by itself. I might just put it here and not on the channel
OverWims
There isn't really a hd version due to it being a children in need special. Maybe you could add it to the beginning of your s4e0 video?
Juliette Gaming
I've had a bit of a look for that one and there's not really a good copy of it anywhere for me to react to and there also seems to be copyright drama happening with it. I might just watch that one without a reaction ๐ซ

5oo videos??! I need to get myself a life ๐คฃ Sometimes tapping and whistling and those oh-so-human noises can be irritating if I'm in the right mood (i.e. cranky). I'll make an exception for you, Neil ๐คฃ

It's my very first 3-parter and I never knew there was such a thing! It's COOL! I'm actually editing the next episode right now, powering through as much as I can today ๐

Oooh I hope you enjoyed!

The OG Master dressed all in black and sported a jet-black VanDyke beard. But yeah, he was this crazy.

Quick note, you titled this episode 11 not 12 here. Your youtube title is fine.

Ah I stand corrected, I didn't realise that the solider was a UNIT solider in the Christmas invasion
OverWims
When you finish series 3 don't forget to then watch the children in need special "Time Crash" that is between that and the Series 4 Christmas Special.
OverWims
This isn't the first time they appeared. They were in Series 1 and 2. The 9th Doctor said to Rose "Unit. That lot. United Nations Intelligence Taskforce". This was before they were renamed to the Unified Intelligence Taskforce. They were also in the Christmas Invasion as one of the Unit Soldiers was talking with Harriet Jones.

The Master has achieved quite a bit in 18 months, sure, but could he have made 500 videos like you have Juliette? No, so I declare that you are in fact better than him! As for the finger tapping I'm one of those annoying people that do that anyway so there was no chance of me not doing it whilst watching this. Great reaction to a great episode. Thanks Juliette.

The scene where the Doctor and the Master talking on the phone. You do get a hint of the relationship between the Doctor and the Master. It also reminds the viewers that the Doctor and the Master are immensely ancient and powerful aliens. The Master is the Doctorโs opposite.
Tobly
I love this 3 parter, mainly because I like this version of the master but the story is brilliant as well, one key note is that on the US president mentioned UNIT (unified intelligence taskforce), this is the first time they appear in modern DW and they are a miliatry organisation designed to protect the earth, the doctor helped them loads in the classic series, they appear properly in the next season but this is a quick explanation about them Anyway glad you liked this episode and look forward for your next reaction :)

Also, one of my favourite moments of Doctor Who is in this episode. When Martha goes to call her parents after the explosion in her flat and the Doctor tells her not to, she immediately bites back with "I'll do what I like!"... and when he tells her it's a trap she shouts "I don't care!". There's something about her delivery that I just love. It itches a part of my brain. She has so much rage and anger and fear for her families safety that the Doctor can't tell her what to do in that moment because all she cares about is their safety. She's spent so long doing what he says and trusting him until that moment and it comes crumbling down in an instant. It makes me adore Martha more, she's not one dimensional, she's fiery and caring and hot-headed. I adore that about her! I'd be the exact same in that situation like bitch, don't tell me what to do, I'm calling my mum!!!

The way I timed my dinner so I would be able to sit down and watch this with you while eating and guess what!? I timed it perfectly lol
