I love how we are introduced to River Song! Such an awesome two-parter! It's just so cool how they wrote her in. It's amazing how you can feel how much River knows the doctor even though it's your first time seeing her. How she talks about the Doctor even. It's so brilliantly written.

Silence In The Library/Forest Of The Dead is one of the best two part episodes of Series 4. High concept Sci Fi with some genuine horror elements. The monster is such a fantastic and simple idea. River Song is a very important character in the series. That’s all I can say. No spoilers! Terrific performances from the cast, an inventive script by Steven Moffat and excellent direction.

ADVENTURES IN CONTINUITY: River's sonic pistol - the blue-square-zappy thing - is the same as Captain Jack's weapon from EMPTY CHILD (Season 1.) Which means, at some point, River Song either went to the factory before the Doctor turned it into a banana farm - or River Song has met the Captain.

I've seen this 2-part story no less than 50 times, and that cliff hanger ending STILL gets me so stressed out every time!!!! That's so funny to see you've already seen the next episode because I was just about to comment that this is the one 2-parter that most reactors just cannot wait to see the conclusion of. Of course we all have to wait a week to see the reactions, but it's so funny that this is just one of those stories that everyone just cannot wait to see what happens next. Great reaction, loved your theories throughout, and can't wait to see the next one.

Just finished watching series 8 a few hours ago, just gonna say I know there will be plenty of episodes you'll love in all 3 series. Just finished watching your reaction. Love it. Especially how long you held your mouth open at the end! :) Without spoiling for others (I know you've watched the concluding episode), just a correction. River didn't say she came a "few days" early. She came at the time for the expedition, but didn't expect that it would be that early in the Doctor's timeline. How early is not known at this point.

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, this is my favorite two parter (didn't even want to mention it was a two parter at the time). The complexity of these episodes, along with the great acting and writing make it my favorite. Somehow I manage to shed a few tears every time I watch it, even after having watched it many many times! EDIT: Every time I watch these episodes I marvel at the detail. You can watch these episodes time after time, and you'll still notice new things. I also have to believe the budget for these episodes was higher than most. The attention to detail, the lighting, the sets, etc. are just phenomenal.

This is such a great double episode! I couldn't re-watch them for years because the shadows made me terrified of the dark even in my early-mid twenties, so kudos to the writers and actors for making it so darn believable 😂 Looking forward to your reaction of the second part! 😊

Love this 2 parter, though when I first watched it I did have to rematch it to fully understand it Also I'm sure many will have there say but I would say don't worry too much about river song and who she could be, that gets explained in the future
