This week has been a fairly productive week for development on 7th Heaven. I'm happy with the progress so far.
Things accomplished this week include.
- Created the logo for 7th Heaven! A parody of FF7's logo where instead of a single meteor, we have Tifa's two huge meteors!
- Created placeholder character sprites for a few more characters. Only a small hand full remain for the Demo.
- Pumped up some of the sex scene text. Besides animated sex sequences, there will be in depth sexy descriptions of everything going down. Been having some fun writing this.
- Roughed out some compositions for the above sex scenes. In the demo I will be using sketches of the sex acts. For the final version I will be bringing it into toonboom to rig and animate each scene.
This week I will be out of town for my day job (animation) on a special assignment and will have limited access to the internet. I will be spending the small amount of free time I get implementing the new text into the engine and doing some bug fixing. I might get around to some artwork but I'm expecting this to be mostly a text heavy week.
Goals for this week.
- Implement new text in engine.
- Implement text effects and images.
- Proof read and pace dialogue.
- Finish off UI elements.
In the longer term I want to knock out all the Backgrounds as soon as possible. Background work has never been my favourite but I do not want to cheap out on that detail. It's so important that I've been focusing on that.
After that the next hurdle is going to be rigging and animation for the characters and sex scenes. You might be asking "why are you animating things when still pictures can get me off just as well?". Well... I want this project to be just a little more polished than the average Porn VN.
In developing the initial slice of the game I did some research into other sexy VN games. I find a lot of them have some decent sex scenes but use default UI elements and static sometimes boring imagery. I'm not knocking anyone specifically. Making games is hard and time consuming and I commend anyone that tries to make one. My goal is to make something I'd be willing to pay for. Something that I find fun and sexy and a delight to play. And I feel having those extra touches will make my project sing. Time will tell.
