Buffy 7x12 Potential

My heart goes out to her family and friends. I only ever saw her on Buffy and it was wonderful to see her character, Dawn, grow up to be someone we all loved. It seems very sad yet fitting that our next episode is all about Dawn 💜

This was such a great Dawn-centric episode. Hasn't she come a long way from the first episode of her sudden placement? She's grown on me so much, and what has impressed me lately is her ability to knuckle down and do the work and research required. She's really grown and matured, and this episode is another example of that.
The ending was absolutely gorgeous. They really are hitting home the speeches that make me cry this season aren't they 😶

Xander's speech at the end never fails to bring tears to my eyes. And he's right: Dawn really is extraordinary. Two seasons ago she was a, let's face it, somewhat annoying teenager. Since then she's had trauma upon trauma: finding out she's not real, losing her mother, losing her sister - but here she shows that none of that broke her. Quite the contrary, she seems as mature and selfless as any one of the scoobies, if not more. And of course Michelle Trachtenberg's portrayal makes it all the stronger. She truly will be missed.

This reaction is so heartbreaking that it coincides with Michelle Trachtenberg's death just days ago. I watched this in tears the whole time. Michelle, you aren't special, you were extraordinary. Rest in peace, lil bit.

Rest in peace, Michelle <3 I know that suddenly becoming responsible for all the potentials would be very stressful and it makes a lot of sense from a story perspective, but Buffy annoys me a little this episode. She knows that Dawn wants to be trained, so why isn't Dawn being trained with the other potentials? Also, having Spike help train the potentials with her seems like a bad idea. She said the First is in retreat mode and won't be pulling Spike's strings, but she can't know that for certain and having him anywhere near the girls seems like an unnecessary risk to take.

The news is heartbreaking. I still can't believe it. This is my favorite Dawn centric episode, so I feel like the timing of this is perfect. It's kind of like a little tribute to her.
