(NSFW) Aleesha - electric wall peril
🕑 Added 2025-04-11 17:26:26 +0000 UTCIt's true, I am fascinated by the classic "squeeze room/walls closing in" peril. I think I've done at least one illustration of each of my heroines (except Satin Steele) in this situation. (And of course the "Tetsuko vs. the Walls" animation which i still hope to get back to.)
Gonna play "amateur self-psychologist" and speculate that it might have started when I was a wee child, watching the syndicated adventures of "Diver Dan" on my local TV station. The title character wore a deep-sea diving suit (so you couldn't see his face), and he had adventures with talking fish (portrayed by marionettes). The villainous Baron Barracuda has it in for Dan for reasons I don't remember, so in one adventure the Baron maneuvers to have Dan and his friend Finley enter a death trap in the lost city of Atlantis. You guessed it, it was a "squeeze room" and the final scene in the episode showed Dan desperately trying to hold the walls back. That scene frightened me so badly I couldn't bear to watch the next episode which would have showed how they escaped (or were rescued), and had nightmares about it for weeks afterward. (Which I might have avoided had I gotten the catharsis of seeing them safe again.) Needless to say, I got over my fear of the concept, and indeed started a strange (or maybe not) fascination with it.
In this illustration, I added an extra dimension of danger: electrodes in the walls shooting high voltage at our beleaguered beauty!
