Even without an efficient conversion method, I'm assuming he still managed to stockpile a decent amount of terium as he expanded. That way, he'll have it available once he develops such a means. In the mean time, I guess Miranda is converting enough to fuel his expansion?

M

I think hes decided the Pact is broken and is going to provide a one time class change to his followers... Assuming he can make a deal with Blappy to keep his peoples storage working. Also food for thought, the Pact is what limited the number of champions that could be created as well....

Samuel Strode

Where will bliz keep his lava? Poisonous snakes and hot spiked jitter juice?!

Jake Schmitt

Perhaps, but the Pact is done, unless Miranda has a reason to keep just Uru's followers inventories or has a deal to keep them why would she? She has said it would take a the rest of the year to describe the problems that just Ruwen and Bliz caused, 😆 so I bet she doesn't want to keep those two if possible. It's not that I'm saying she is being underhanded, just clever so she might be able to make a deal or something with Ruwen or Uru in the future.

It wasn't in HLP--it was in Chapter 56 of Book 8. There's a line where Hamma hands Ruwen a bag--he opens it further down in the same chapter, where it's mentioned that it's the Apocalypse Hoop. Ruwen later opened the inventory (which he can do now, since he is Divine) and provided a quick summary of the contents. It's all down below, if you are interested. Some of the contents were books, which are always interesting (I don't have to convince this audience, I'm sure). For what it is worth, I think HLP has content that enriches the reading experience for this series. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Pannath

Oh, I didn't read Hamma's story. I'll read it eventually, but I don't like stories that split off and follow other characters perspectives when you're used to following one character. I was SUPER happy that the author made a separate story just for what Hamma was doing. I always say, that's the right way to do it. Hopefully Hamma will get around to telling Ruwen and giving it to him, considering he's looking for it... hopefully BEFORE he runs off to Miranda's Realm again for who knows how many years.

Asheron Wilder

Lalquinrial was unable to obtain Pen's ring. Archie's folks took it and gave it to Hamma before Lalquinrial's minions were able to requisition it.

I will respond to everyone soon. I love these conversations and I have already made changes based on the feedback I see in these comments. I will point them out when I respond so people know. I just wanted to make a quick point about Grave. All the Spirit in the Universe is in Pen's Divine Realm (The Third Secret). Grave is Pen's solidified Core. Just like Ruwen used the Architect Role and Spirit on Rainbow's End to alter that planet, I think its possible some of that terium was converted into things a planet needs. Spinning molten core for instance. BUT, the fact is you are all right. Fractal would have displaced a lot of terium and I will now address this. I already know why he cant use much of it...as he lacks an efficient way to sublimate it on a mass scale. Again, thank you everyone for all the discussion. It helps make the book better, and the enthusiasm gives me energy to write faster.

Pannath

98% was me being generous, it's probably closer to 99.9%. This is ALL the spirit from the entire Universe. I don't know how large Grave is, but it's a planet. So if we use earth as an example, even if the entire planet was Terium, except a 1 kilometer thick shell of rock and dirt, and water for the oceans, the number would be something like this. For example, the Diameter of Earth is 12 756.2 kilometers. That's a cross section at the middle if the world was a circle, but it's 3 dimensional sphere. So if you took 1 kilometer off the surface, the diameter would b e 12754.2 kilometers... just 2 kilometers less, 1 off each side essentially, since it's taking 1 from all across the surface. A planet is so MUCH more ridiculously large than you can comprehend. Even thousands of years of strip mining normal minerals wouldn't put a dent in a planet... and Terium from what we know isn't as easy to mine as other stuff. They realistically haven't made even a scratch.

Pannath

Lalquinrial has Pen's ring now.

Asheron Wilder

If I understand correctly, Grave should have originally been almost entirely terium since it was Pen's core (assuming he solidified it before dying). The 98% may be a bit much since so much has been harvested over the years, but it should still have a significant inventory (especially in Uru's lands, which are terium-rich). That said, several of the other deities were pretty keen to acquire Uru's mines, so maybe much of it has been consumed. Is Fractal power-limited in his expansion or focus-limited? I was under the impression it was mainly focus-limited, since he gets distracted by every shiny rock he encounters.

Jonathan Barnett

I assumed that any restrictions from Miranda were basically tied to the number of bands, and restrictions for mental acuity, Class, etc. were all determined by the deity (Uru, in this case). I don't really have a basis for that--it was just my interpretation. Also, given that Miranda did not inform Ruwen of the 36-hour clock, I think it's safe to say that Uru's followers will not be impacted by the change. She tends to drive a hard bargain, but I don't get the sense that she would try to trick Ruwen in that manner. If she bothered to notify Lalquinrial's cohorts of the change after what they did, I think it's fair to conclude she'd extend the same courtesy to Ruwen.

Jake Schmitt

Nick I agree with your first statement the bands are a force multiplier, but you are confusing me what do you mean that the Bands are unarmed focused and what are the 2 unarmed buffs you're talking about?

Samuel Strode

I can see that but base intelligence of 15 Restriction: Base (Level 1) Intelligence 15 or greater p 54 shade’s first rule

Nick Pincus

I kind of think the bands are a way to encourage people to become worker as banders are very high value. Also extremely power as they have a bit of everything from what we have seen, tho oddly are a bit unarmed focused. 2 unarmed buffs, at least 2 energy skills that work with unarmed attacks. At this point I would say a worker is like the second best at everything that the others are primary at.

Jake Schmitt

Yes! Exactly my point he might not know and Uru might not know that so Blappy giving him this "boon" or favor might not help much, because Blappy said the Pact was over.

Samuel Strode

She told that to the summoned gods not Ruwen so he doesn’t know

Jake Schmitt

It would make sense if Ruwen took those bands and removed at least some of the requirements to give to people in Uru's lands and maybe even limit how they work so they don't kill themselves while using it. Also Blappy said to the gods the Pact was dissolved and now she only has to store their followers things for the next 3 days then its gone. Does this apply to Ruwen's new bands as well?

Jake Schmitt

I have sent myself down a bit of a rabbit hole but would like someone else's opinion on this. In the log that Ruwen saw after he became Angel it shows his Aura Density and Purity were poor. Blappy says that the way some gods bring back their dead is by grabbing the soul and they lose some of the "energy"(I believe that she said Aura, not sure) around the soul, and eventually they can't revive anymore because their soul doesnt have enough Aura to stay in the body if I'm reading that right it means that there might be a way to strengthen the Aura around the soul and if that is true then they just need to learn how to manipulate Auras and they could revive their followers constantly and their soul should still be able to move on after their bodies have aged to their natural death to allow the soul to move on to wherever it needs to go. Also on another note I'm more interested in how exactly Pen was killed we can speculate all day my best bet is that the harvesting during the smear destroyed his soul hope it's brought up later how it happened now that we know Divine beings can recover from semi-death.

Jake Schmitt

Yeee! Grave is very rich in Terium I think 98% is a bit of an exaggeration tho, and we already know there are places of dense Terium in pockets on Grave because of the the book that Tremine betrayed Ruwen to get. As for Fractal's state he told Blappy that he was just finishing on level 130 something so that's where a good chunk of his power is invested. As for the Chakra I have an idea this is pure theory, but if you know what Chakra is in some Human cultures it's the energy of the soul and the body combined. Maybe there is a way to refine soul energy in the body and that can awaken the the eight Chakras that were listed in the log after Ruwen ascended to Angel.

Samuel Strode

Uru’s bands have a worker restriction as well…

Jonathan Barnett

I speculate that he is going to chat with the nearby cultivators to request their support, but I don't really have a basis for that notion. Maybe they'd be more willing to directly support him if he is openly "the scarecrow?" Or, he could open the bands up for use by non-Worker ascendants. Neat idea with the navigators, but the bands are soul-bound. I'm not sure how that would work on navigators, even if you cast them into a Fallen Hero form.

Samuel Strode

What is Ruwen going to do with 2500 band? Is he going to unleash all of his navigators to become generals in his war? Or a theory I would like but it would make things too easy make everyone have a second class changeable on death

Asheron Wilder

Oh, and he needs to figure out the stuff from Pen's ring. That sounded interesting.

Asheron Wilder

Excellent post. I agree with the logic in the first paragraph, but I'm trying to scrub it against why Fractal was so "starved" for Spirit in the beginning of the series, especially given his proximity to the mine. You'd think terium was especially rich in that area. I feel like I'm missing something. Maybe Grave used to be mostly terium, but the deities consumed a lot of it near the surface when (if?) they used their Creator roles to terraform it for their people? I dunno. Regarding the rest of the entry, I think you are also spot on. Ruwen's theoretical capabilities have massively exceeded his ability/knowledge of how to use them, so fingers crossed he just parks it in Miranda's realm for awhile. Regarding chakras, etc., I think a lot of that is beyond what the current set of deities pursued. It seems they focused exclusively or almost exclusively on the use of Spirit. Miranda alluded to this previously, if I recall correctly. To be honest, I don't understand enough about the Temple to speak intelligently on the different features and their meanings. Again, Miranda's realm will let Ruwen work through some of those questions and will also allow Rami to index and run queries. I'm glad he's headed back.

Pannath

To probably 98 percent of Grave is Terium. And Fractal is a dungeon on Grave. Such rapid expansion downwards and outwards should give him MASSIVE energy to work with. Has that been addressed? Also I hope Ruwen has learned his lesson bringing Sift with him to Miranda's Divine realm... Sift will inevitably get bored and want to leave. I hope and pray Ruwen doesn't limit his time based on Sift's impatience this time. They were originally supposed to be there 500 years, they were there around 100. Ruwen could have stabilized his foundations, and probably advanced further into Divine, learned to use Harmony more, instead of just the small amount he's used it. Further investigated the level 2 Architect Role. Also I just remembered to ask. The temple Pen found in the Darkness showed all the ways of advancement, and hints at what they were. Were Chakra's listed on the Temple at all? Because the first time I recall that being mentioned was the system messages. Also, perhaps Ruwen has access to the Quest system and other stuff. Miranda like everyone else is probably a level 1 Architect, yet she can make portals as Ruwen noticed, and knew exactly where Lylan was. The gods can move to sub dimensions, etc... Ruwen needs to sit down with Uruziel and get the run down on God capabilities. Then figure out the extra stuff he can do that they cannot, and there are likely quite a bit more things he can do besides just Harmony now that he has the level 2 Architect Role. I get the impression that the gods should be able to do all that stuff at will, and the Architect role is like hand holding until they learn to do it without the menu's. But I could be wrong.

Nick Pincus

And now I have everything. So many more questions but I love how this is starting.

Dustin Sago

Holy freaking cow information overload.

Shawn

I'm glad Ruwen has found this level of conviction. None of those gods deserve his mercy.

Joe Bou-Chedid

I’m so happy right now!

Jeremiah Halstead

So far I'm liking where this is going. Seems like we're going to have a lot more character in this one

Suzette Johnson

This is awesome!!!!
