NEW YEAR'S ANNOUNCEMENTS (PLEASE READ)
🕑 Added 2019-01-11 22:54:38 +0000 UTCSo I made a brief update on Twitter but it was kindly brought to my attention that I hadn't posted anything about it directly to Patreon. I was hoping to have some goodies ready before I made the post but I don't want to keep you all waiting any longer.
So indie publishing and Patreon management have been pretty trial-and-error for me as I learn what I can keep up with and what just absolutely destroys my desire and ability to work. This year I will be changing my workflow and shifting reward tiers as an experiment that will hopefully lead to a more productive year.
Item 1: I learned while working on Persephone and preparing TQ for its new release that I work best in batches. I have an easier time staying focused and getting it done because I'm focused on one thing at a time. Last year I was unable to work in batches. I never had the time. I always had to move on to the next comic update immediately after finishing the last page and I was always behind. Then I didn't have time to work on bonus material for Patreon and that, in all honesty, gave me some pretty serious anxiety. THIS YEAR I will be working on all of my comics in batches, in a bit of a rotation. It will take some time to get everything rolling and I completely understand if you guys want to hold off on your pledges until things pick up again for your comic of choice. Right now I am working on the first chapter of the highly anticipated Eros and Psyche, which I will have available very soon. Next on the agenda will either be Far to the North or Tigress Queen, and I might put it up to a vote if you all are interested.
Item 2: NEW COMICS INCOMING! The photo above is for Eros and Psyche, featuring Aphrodite and Ares. This comic will be 18+ so please keep that in mind. THIRSTY FOLKS ONLY. The first chapter will be available later this month. The second new comic is:
Poisoned! This comic has been in visual development hell for so long and I'm so excited to finally share it with you. I'll be releasing it a little later this year, so please look forward to it! Like my other Patreon-exclusives it will be released a chapter at a time.
Item 3: I will be adjusting Patreon reward tiers. I will be nixing the world building tier altogether because I simply never have time to do the rewards I originally had planned for it. The new line-up will be as follows:
$1 - Works In Progress - I will post thumbnails of Far to the North and Tigress Queen (with some Poisoned pages here and there) but without dialogue. I will also post WIPs of other SFW rewards and works I intend to make public.
$3 - Early Release - I will post TQ and FTTN pages as I finish them here, as well as any other SFW bonus material.
$7 - Poisoned - Once the first chapter is ready for release, I will create this tier so that people can access this comic specifically.
$10 - Eros and Psyche - This tier will include chapters of Eros and Psyche along with all other NSFW content I decide to make. In the past I've had people mention they were uncomfortable seeing this content even though they wanted to be subscribed to content from a tier above it, so this will be how I fix that. Now you only have to see it if it's what you're looking for.
This new tier system will go into effect once I post the first chapter of Eros and Pscyhe. I will be removing old content and reuploading it to the new assigned tiers which will take some time, so please bear with me while I take care of all that.
Item 4: Far to the North will be concluding its first volume this year. If I'm working in batches as I intend to, it might end rather soon. I do not intend to start the second volume this year, but hopefully the point we leave off at will be a satisfying one so the wait shouldn't be excruciating. Once I'm done with Poisoned and Eros and Psyche (which will both be one-shot books like Persephone) I will consider picking up FTTN again. I will talk about it more once the volume ends.

As soon as I finish the first chapter of Eros and Psyche. I'm trying to get it done by the end of January along with rearranging a bunch of other stuff here. Again, if you feel more comfortable holding off on pledges until I release what you're after then that's totally cool, just keep an eye on my Twitter for updates!

Will the two one-shot comics both be available for purchase outside Patreon like Persephone was?

You can only be subscribed to one tier at a time and you see everything but the things at higher tiers than the one you are subscribed to. Like I said, that particular post is showing up as being part of the wrong tier and I have no idea why, but the only thing I posted that day was on the $10 tier. I am so sorry for all the confusion.

I was on the $5 tier. That post came up saying it was a $1 tear. But wouldn't show it to me. So I was like I'll what's one more dollar I don't mind that I'll pledge that sure. I think it's going to bill me for $1. but that confuse me so I went into my settings and it was like you have $1 used and $5 of credit remaining and that I'm subscribed you now for $1 a month? What non of that made sense... I want to be subscribed to you for $5 a month... Ok I'll just have to keep an eye on that. I hope your hiatus gives you all the recharge you need to continue making these beautiful comics. and meanwhile I will do my best to figure out the confusion with my subscription as I want to continue supporting you.

When do the new tiers go into effect?

You select one tier and you see the content from that tier + the content from the lower tiers. I don't know why some people are seeing that particular post as being on the $1 tier but it's from the $10 tier. Some sort of glitch, I guess.

I'm a little confused about the tier system. Will people only have access to what's in one specific tier? Do you have to subscribe to multiple tiers to see multiple projects? And I'm asking for the current system as well as the future one. For example, I'm in the $5 tier, and I can't see your Dec 22 post, even though it's available to the fan tier. I thought that the lower levels were available to higher ones, but I could be wrong!

I understand and respect.your decisions and while I am happy you are solidly excited to start a new project, I have no real interest in reading anything other than fttn and tq. Personally I burn out on so many different stories that I have to be more selective in what I invest my emotional energy into. I haven't decided if or when that'll effect whether I support you on patreon. I understand as a fellow creative personality that we have to follow our own personal inspiration however I pretty solidly joined onto to really just support those and get a pretty steady stream of that content. Thanks for all that you do and regardless of what I decide patreon wise I'll certainly still continue to love,admire, and follow your writing.

Thanks for letting us know! It's going to be so wonderful to see all the amazing stuff you'll create this year! Been waiting to see Poisoned and Psyche and Eros for so long! Though, do take your time and do what's best for your work; I love all your stories but hate to see you burn yourself out for them. Hope you have a great 2019!

You need to take care of yourself first. If that means changing work up to make it less stressful for you, then you should go for it. Work should be enjoyable. If that means we have to wait a little, I don’t mind. Thanks for the heads up.

I'm sorry, but if it's any consolation it's possible I'll be able to finish the volume when I get to that batch (which could very well be immediately after I finish this chapter of E&P) and then $3 patrons will be able to read the sequence very quickly.

Please don't leave FTTN hanging at this point in the story for several weeks . Pretty please? It's far easier to wait for a comic that hasn't begun than to have a long-running comic go on hiatus right in the middle of a climactic sequence.

I've never removed a tier before but I would assume you would stay pledged for the same amount until you manually choose a new tier.

I intend for the batches to be bigger than 3 or 4 pages. Best case scenario I get enough pages to update the sites weekly until their turn in the rotation comes back up. I don't really want to deal with a discord server at this time and there's really no need to if NSFW is the highest tier.

When you say “in batches”, is that several pages of one comic or one page each from several comics? (It’s not a deal breaker; I’m just nosey.) If the former, would those update monthly? (Say, three or four pages of FTTN one month, then TQ the next, etc.) Finally: As far as spicy art is concerned, have you considered posting it to Discord instead? That way, you can put it in a folder marked NSFW and people can bypass it if they want. I know several artists who have done this on Patreon and it seems to work out.
