🕑 Added 2023-04-27 19:33:58 +0000 UTCSo first I need to thank you all for your patience. I've basically been struggling to sleep all month and it's been impacting my ability to work. I'm so glad I had only assigned myself a short batch this month because there's no way I would have been able to manage more than this. I'll be going straight into the next batch of E&P pages so I can post them asap and not leave you all on this cliffhanger for too long.
Ares is not a popular god in ancient Greece, but there's surprisingly little evidence of him being a r*pist like Zeus, Apollo and Poseidon so I don't characterize him as one in my comic. In fact, he gets villainized by the other gods for killing one of Poseidon's sons after that son assaulted Ares' daughter. In some traditions he is Aphrodite's husband instead of Hephaestus and I think they work very well as a couple. I think he's the kind of dick who would want to get a rise out of Eros but not the kind of dick who would lay hands on Psyche. That being said he is still his own level of freak and I had so much fun giving my spouse the heebie-jeebies with his dialogue in these pages.

Wow, I've never heard that version of the chair story! The way I usually heard it, Hephaestus trapped Hera like that as revenge for throwing him out of Olympus and his reward for freeing her was just being allowed back as an equal among them - and the arranged marriage to Aphrodite was just something Zeus came up with on his own later, not a special request. I'm not too surprised that this other version exists, though. The Greeks were kind of horrible like that (plus, as much as I personally like Hephaestus, he's, uh, not exactly known for his kindness and consideration, in any version of the myths).

Eros said “fuck off, Dad” 💀 Interesting take on Hephaestus! I mean- I don’t expect the gods to be impartial judges lmao but usually he’s without question the victim. It’s a little refreshing to get such a different interpretation. (I like to think that Aphrodite loves them both in different ways, but that’s really just what I *want* it to be 😂)
