I had a free day and I could do more than I was expecting with regards to my Anck Su Namun sculpture. I refined her outfit elements and the also her base. Now I must only work on her skin decoration. For that, I'd like to know your opinion.
Do you prefer negative or positive space for the lines on her skin? I mean, should I carve these lines on her surface, or should I add a new layer with the lines on top of her skin?
Which one is better for painting, according to your experience?

Looks like a challenging pose, and she looks beautiful!

Negative space works even better with paneliners than washes. Pro painters can likely just paint on top of the nsfw version.

I would have to say raised because I think using negative space could result in an odd look once it's actually on the shelf. The only other option I could see is outline only and have those lines be etched in then you should be able to get very crisp clear edges while the vast majority of everything would be on the same plane

raised works the best we can sand them down and free hand

Negative will give cleaner results as a wash will flow right in there and look great.

Raised works best for painting.

I vote for raised detail as well...and the ability to not have any lines for the fully committed freehanders.

In my experience it is much easier to paint a positive (raised) surface on the skin

It’s usually easier with the extra layer but that’s just my opinion
