New Game - Poll 1

When I ran some test game ideas in This Poll, people liked both ideas I offered up pretty equally. I, on the other hand, was only actually happy with one of the two. Specifically, Locked Away Princess was a game I could see myself doing. A Most Unusual Training Voyage, while a good test case idea for the type of game, was just...bland as heck to me. It needed replacing with a better idea. As such, while Locked Away Princess has changed only a little (Note: Some of those changes are important. Monster Girls have been added as a possible theme, Kink Content widened a bit and considerably less focus put on Escape Game elements), the second option has been overhauled fairly substantially. Now, let's take a look!

Game Concept 1: Locked Away Princess
Key Concepts: Exploration/Delver Game, Monster Girls (and Similar), Chastity/Bondage Play, Lots of Kinky Sex Magic, Female Switch Protagonist.
Princess Aureilla was, in fact, extremely upset with her father. Just because that cooky old fortune teller claimed that the fall of his rule would be brought about by the loss of her chastity was no reason to go to such extremes as this! Really, commissioning a magic chastity belt was bad enough! Taking things even farther by having her locked away in this dusty old tower on top of a mountain was just way too far! She wasn't going to take this sitting down! If she could figure out a way not to, that is...
Game Description: A subversion of the classic fairy tale where a Princess gets locked in a tower until rescue. It turns out that this particular tower once belonged to a rather crazy old hermit of a wizard. While it hardly has a grand library of magic, all the major tomes having been donated to the Kingdom when he died, there are quite a lot of bits and bobs that got left behind. Dubious spells jotted down in the margins of fantasy novels. Magic items that no one realized were magic. Hidden rooms where the Wizard kept his more 'fun' and 'personal' experiments. Determined to become powerful enough to deal with her situation herself, Aureilla dives into all of it will a will to learn whatever she can.
Exploring the tower, she finds quite a few predicaments as she tries to grown in power and escaped her annoying chastity belt! Sometimes, those situations demand she submit to Eldritch Tentacle monsters she accidentally summoned...and other times she find old sex golems the Wizard used for fun who are just as desperate to be ordered around as she is to get this bloody belt off!
Gameplay: Gameplay will steer away from Escape Game themes, as I feel those are a little simplistic for one of my longer-term games. While some of that will still be present, the game will focus more on Aureilla learning magic and figuring out multiple creative ways to use it. Both to become more powerful and to get off under the limits she's working under. If she finds a Succubus Summoning spell, in example, it might be used to help her have fun, to help her fight her way through the more dangerous parts of the tower, and to help her gather resources from afar. This will be an Adventure RPG just as much as an Adult Game, though I'm not yet quite certain what Engine would be used for it.

Game Concept 2: Submissive Streamer
Key Concepts: Reverse Trainer Game, Various Escalating Kinks, Female Submissive Protagonist
Kara had to admit that living in the 24th century wasn't bad. Post scarcity was pretty nice, with no one needing to work unless they wanted to. Most people still did, of course, since you could earn generous luxuries by putting in modest amounts of work. Money still existed, even if basic needs and a bit more besides were met for everyone. Put in just a few hours a week though and you could have a nicer apartment, a personal car instead of the free self-driving taxis, or take a trip back to Old Terra to see the sites. Whatever you wanted to do, really. It gave people direction and let them work towards doing things that interested them.
Kara only really had two interests. Sex and Exploration.
In the two years since she turned eighteen, she's been working on a way to make those two things work together. Sure, she could have done things the boring way, just working at a brothel for a few hours a week. It's not like that was illegal like it had been centuries ago in the Boring Ages. Yet, that wasn't the sort of sex that interested Kara. Nope, she was a sub, she knew it, and she got a thrill out of the idea of taking kinky orders from friends and strangers alike. Bonus points if a little exhibitionism was in the cards too!
That's why she'd saved up for her little shuttle and a bunch of streaming equipment. Now she can take direction from her followers as she explores the galaxy, letting them pay up to decide what kinky things she got up too...
Gameplay: You, as Kara, start the game with a basic shuttle and streaming equipment. You'll earn credits for upgrades by satisfying the kinky things your follows want you to do. While it will start out simple, such as taking a naked stroll around a space station, it will escalate both as Kara gets more daring and acquires more kinky equipment from her followers. She'll find herself becoming more and more submissive as she's sent remote control toys, chastity belts, coupons for implant clinics and gene splicing stores. Eventually, she may even find herself in the grasp of a Mistress or Master who wants to keep her...

Alright folks! I'm still not exactly sure what's going to happen with this Patreon Page. Frankly, it no longer pays out enough for me to support myself doing full-time development. It's dropped to a third of what it was at it's peak, and that's in a good month. That means the exact scale and development speed of any future games will likely be determined by how well Left Hand Magic does when it finally releases for actual sale. (Hopefully in late January or early February).
That said, this is the first step in deciding what game will follow up Left Hand Magic as my next major project. Note that I specifically left out things like the inclusion of Futa/Male content. That sort of detail will be subject to more polls once a game is picked.

*shrug* These two games are based on the set of Feedback Polls I did across several months. With them both focusing on the most popular results from those polls, as many of the high notes as I could make fit into each game, really. There isn't much I can do beyond targeting the most popular feedback options. Both for type of game and for types of content. One way or another, though, no follow up game is going to be too much like Left Hand Magic because it will NOT be a Visual Novel. I am so UTTERLY sick of the visual novel format at the moment that I'd sooner throw my computers all out the window and follow them with a Molotov Cocktail to finish them off than work on another VN. Which probably means no Renpy, either, but what engine I use instead will likely depend on which game wins.

Well the voting is pretty close right now which kind of makes me a little nervous after what you said about the Patreon page. It would be a shame to have a bunch of people bail because they don't like the new direction. I think either story would work out just fine so I will make no comment about that. I do have a preference (slightly and it was a tough decision). The only thing I will say, is that people have their kinks, but they also like variety. Having the next game be too close to LHM might loose some interest, not that either of these options are that close ATM but it was a thought.
