It’s time for a regular monthly update about the development of Innocent Witches. Today we’ll talk about the upcoming seasonal update, one of the major parts of patch 0.11A, and other game related information. Let’s go!
We’re starting with an art-preview. Today it’s the line art of one of the locations that is coming in 0.11A - Hufflepuff Common Room. As the game development moves forward we continue to expand it with new locations for you to enjoy. Faculties’ common rooms in Hogwarts are pretty cool, and even though it’s the Gryffindor Common Room that is most known, we wanted to start with Hufflepuff this time and see how it will fit in the game, and what new content can be put there. Besides, an event in 0.11A will happen in this location, so it will be used for the main quest at the very least. We will also look into reusing other existing locations such as the library, prefects’ bathroom and so on, to make them appear in the game more frequently.
Next, a couple of words about what's been done during the past development cycle (ten days):
Half of the time was dedicated to planning the scenario for the next seasonal update - Halloween! More on this will be down below.
The other half was aimed at inserting Live2D animations for one of the scenes. This time it’s Ginny’s “backdoor” scene that happens at the end of act 2 in the new plot.
The insertion is halfway finished, so it will definitely be included in the next patch.
Apart from this Live2D animation we also have one more ready for insertion. This animation is for the scene that happens at the very end of Act 1 Chapter 6.
Finally, one more animation is in the works for one of the side scenes, we’ll share the preview when we have something to show :)
The rest of the time for fixing other stuff, such as the issue with access to the download page for some of the patrons, and moving Weblate (translation project) to the other hosting to make it more stable and reliable.
Now let’s look at what’s coming next. First of all, the seasonal update. This time we picked Halloween, namely the events that happen in the second part of the Halloween quest. During this quest, each prefect has a series of events that ends with a funny and sexy conclusion. However, the one related to Daphne ends with a cliffhanger.
In the next part of the Halloween quest the prefects together with Marcus will make a plan and combine their efforts in solving the mystery behind Daphne's Halloween event. Each of them will play their part in this plan, and depending on your waifu choice, the reward in each step of the plan will be slightly different. Ultimately, it boils down to this - you will get a lewder event with a prefect if she’s your waifu, which keeps the event fresh during the consequent replays.
We also wanted to include one more character to this update (Ginny) so that she participates in it as well, but due to time constraints reported by the art team we had to cut her out from the scenario. Instead it was decided to make a separate side quest with her in one of the future updates, so please don’t get too upset that she’s not in the Halloween update :)
Oh, one more thing - the release date. The update is planned to be out on or slightly after 31st of October 2023. This will mostly depend on the art team to make the patch meet this deadline, so let’s hope everything works as planned.
Next, a couple of words on one of the major parts of 0.11A main story. If you don’t want spoilers then you might want to skip this part. The main part of the update will be aimed at the continuation of the prologue of the second act. The main goal is to return the waifu to Hogwarts after she disappears in the prologue, and do this within one chapter, so that she is back for the continuation of the story in chapter 2 and beyond. This will be achieved by combining the existing events in the first chapter together with the new events which will help Marcus to find the missing waifu. The main part of this event will revolve around the polyjuice potion. After certain actions Marcus will be able to live the life of a Hogwarts student, including some of the lessons, activities between the lessons, and more. This is quite a challenging task, but in the end we think that it will be fun to play through these activities, considering they will be different depending on the waifu. If it’s Hermione, then Marcus will have to interact with other Gryffindor students and participate in activities that Hermione likes to do the most, for example, going to the library. In the end, we think that it’ll help showing Hogwarts as an actual living school, and not just a set of locations to visit.
Apart from this, another thing that will be added soon is the new background for the main menu, featuring the one and only Luna Lovegood playing with her toys ;) This one is a long coming thing, which will expand the existing set of backgrounds for the main menu. Finally, another feature will be coming too, which will allow you to set some of the scenes from the game as you unlock them by playing. This will make the main menu much more customizable and will allow your favorite character to greet you each time you start the game ;)
Let’s finish this news post with a vote. The team have been recently discussing the importance of the side characters in the game. Some of the members think that the side characters should not be focused at all, and only appear occasionally, and the main focus should be on the main characters only. The others think that the side characters are as important (and sometimes even more important) than the main characters. What is your opinion on this topic? Do you think that only the main girls should receive all the attention, with occasional events with a side character? You should focus most of the resources on the main characters, and only occasionally do some lewd stuff for the side characters.
I think side characters should receive much more attention than they are getting now. Ginny alone is the perfect candidate for more juiciness for example.
I don’t have a specific opinion on that. Ideally, there should be a balance between main and side characters, but in the end it will depend on the events that happen in the story.
I don’t care / I want to see the results.

Пришло время очередного ежемесячного выпуска новостей о разработке "Невинных ведьм". Сегодня мы поговорим о грядущем сезонном обновлении, одной из основных частей патча 0.11A, а также о другой информации, связанной с игрой. Поехали!
Начнем мы с арт-превью. Сегодня это линейный арт одной из локаций, которая появится в 0.11A - Гостинная Пуффендуя. По мере развития игры мы продолжаем расширять ее, добавляя новые локации, которыми вы сможете насладиться. Гостинные факультетов в Хогвартсе играют важную роль, и хотя наиболее известна гостиная Гриффиндора, в этот раз мы хотели начать с Пуффендуя и посмотреть, как она впишется в игру, и какой новый контент можно будет туда поместить. Кроме того, в 0.11A в этой локации будет происходить события, так что она как минимум будет использоваться для главного квеста. Мы также рассмотрим возможность повторного использования других существующих локаций, таких как библиотека, ванные старост и т.д., чтобы они чаще появлялись в игре.
Далее несколько слов о том, что было сделано за прошедший цикл разработки (десять дней):

Остальное время ушло на исправление других проблем, таких как проблема с доступом к странице загрузки для некоторых патронов, а также на перенос Weblate (проекта перевода) на другой хостинг, чтобы сделать его более стабильным и надежным.
Теперь давайте посмотрим, что будет дальше в игре. Во-первых, сезонное обновление. На этот раз мы выбрали Хэллоуин, а именно события, которые происходят во второй части квеста. В ходе этого квеста с каждой старостой происходит ряд событий, которые заканчиваются забавной и сексуальной развязкой. Однако история, связанная с Дафной, не заканчивается каким-то завершающим событием.

Каждая из них сыграет свою роль в этом плане, и в зависимости от выбранной вами вайфу награда на каждом этапе будет немного отличаться. В конечном счете, все сводится к следующему: вы получите более сочное событие со старостой, если она будет вашей вайфу, что сохранит актуальность квеста во время повторного прохождения.
Мы также хотели включить в это обновление еще одного персонажа (Джинни), чтобы она тоже участвовала в событии, но из-за нехватки времени, о которой сообщила команда художников, мы были вынуждены убрать ее из сценария. Вместо этого было решено сделать отдельный побочный квест с ней в одном из будущих обновлений, так что, пожалуйста, не расстраивайтесь, что ее не будет в хэллоуинском обновлении :)
И еще одно - дата выхода. Планируется, что обновление выйдет 31 октября 2023 года или чуть позже. В основном это будет зависеть от арт-команды, которая будет работать над артом для патча, так что будем надеяться, что все получится, как запланировано.
Далее несколько слов об одной из главных частей основного сюжета 0.11A. Если вы не хотите спойлеры, то лучше пропустить эту часть. Основная часть обновления будет направлена на продолжение пролога второго акта. Главная цель - вернуть вайфу в Хогвартс после ее исчезновения в прологе, причем сделать это в течение одной главы, чтобы она вернулась к продолжению истории во второй главе и далее. Это будет достигнуто путем объединения существующих событий первой главы с новыми событиями, которые помогут Маркусу найти пропавшую вайфу. Основная часть событий будет связана с оборотным зельем. После определенных действий Маркус сможет побывать студентом Хогвартса, включая некоторые уроки, перемены между ними и другое. Это довольно сложная задача с т.з. реализации, но мы думаем, что эти активности стоят того и будут интересны игроку, поскольку они будут отличаться в зависимости от вайфу. Например, если это Гермиона, то Маркусу нужно будет общаться с другими студентами Гриффиндора и участвовать в мероприятиях, которые Гермиона любит делать больше всего, например, ходить в библиотеку. В конечном итоге, мы думаем, что это поможет показать Хогвартс как живую школу, а не просто набор мест для посещения.
Кроме того, в ближайшее время будет добавлен новый фон для главного меню, на котором будет изображена единственная и неповторимая Луна Лавгуд, играющая со своими игрушками ;) Это довольно долгожданное добавление, которое расширит существующий набор фонов для главного меню. Наконец, появится еще одна функция, которая позволит устанавливать некоторые сцены из игры по мере их открытия в процессе игры. Это сделает главное меню более настраиваемым и позволит вашему любимому персонажу приветствовать вас при каждом запуске игры ;)
Завершим эту новость голосованием. В последнее время команда обсуждала важность побочных персонажей в игре. Одни считают, что побочным персонажам вообще не стоит уделять внимания, они должны появляться лишь изредка, а основное внимание должно быть сосредоточено только на главных героях. Другие считают, что побочные персонажи не менее (а иногда и более) важны, чем главные. Каково ваше мнение по этому вопросу? Считаете ли вы, что все внимание должно уделяться только главным девушкам, а события с побочными персонажами должны происходить только время от времени? Или же побочные персонажи должны получать такое же внимание, как и главные девушки, а иногда даже больше? Дайте нам знать, проголосовав или оставив комментарий ниже <3
Вы должны сосредоточить большую часть ресурсов на главных героинях, и лишь изредка делать какие-то вещи для побочных персонажей.
Я считаю, что побочные персонажи должны получать гораздо больше внимания, чем сейчас. Например, Джинни или Парвати - идеальные кандидаты для нового контента.
У меня нет конкретного мнения на этот счет. В идеале должен быть баланс между главными и побочными персонажами, но все равно это будет зависеть от сюжета.
Мне все равно / я хочу увидеть результат.

Yeah but really prefer focusing on the main characters for now, or else we will take another 5 years for the game to complete, maybe 10 years?

I personally would like to see the main stuff get done with the side stuff getting flushed out later. It would be great to have the player be able to make progress in the game, and you could take note of ideas for side stuff, so you can see what fits and what doesn't when development of the main stuff is complete.

I think an important balance is needed. The main routes are main routes but if your plan is to introduce side characters (as has been done i.e Ginny/Parvati) there needs to be a reason for their introduction. You said about making the world feel real rather than x event at x place. By introducing side characters that dont have mandatory quests but also appear at times in main quests/events it allows you to not only expand the world and fake it feel more full, but also allows the team to experiment with ideas they may be more controversial if they occurred in the main routes. My opinion is do stuff with these side characters there is a benefit than just filling a niche, but at the same time there should be a balance. I think if the focus on side characters overtakes the focus on the main girls there needs to be a strong reason for this to occur during that part of the game, if not it should be a side thing, but side quests should feel linked/whole/fulfilling to complete if chosen. But also by including side characters for no reason makes them feel like a waste.

Yeah when I first read faculty I was thinking teachers lounge then realised they meant the student houses. In Australia we refer to faculty in the context of teachers and I'd assume the same for the UK.

I would love more integration of the side characters like Ginny, Cho, or Nora, both as characters and as clogs in the advancement of quests/the main story. All this as long as it does not encumber the task chain: summon all prefects tasks are already a pace breaker.

Just a nit pick. In the english versions of the books, the term is 'houses' not faculties. Gryffindor House, Ravenclaw House, Hufflepuff House, Slytherin House. In America, 'faculty' refers to the teachers!
