When it comes to Kiku and another character that you will meet eventually, go with how Luffy addresses them. Luffy uses she/her for Kiku because yes she is trans. The other character, people refuse to get it right because they cant get past appearances. Just look to Luffy and how he talks to them. plz plz plz.

Concerning kappa, they are yokai (Japanese folklore creatures). The thing with Wano is that it's so Japan-centric that Oda doesn't get much time to explore the small things, they just exist in the background. So far, most of the creatures they ride have been some type of yokai i.e. komainu (Otama's dog), basan (Kinemon's recent ride) and the kirin (Hawkins' ride). The other thing is that since Wano is so isolated, they aren't aware of what everyone else considers common and what's unique to them. That's why the plan to use Brook to get food and offerings works and why everyone thinks devil fruits are some sort of magic. Typically, whenever there's something that's out of the ordinary, people in Wano just go straight to believe it's some sort of divine intervention. Also makes sense why everyone fears Kaido and Orochi, individuals with devil fruits that embody the pinnacle of Japanese mythology. In other news, Happy New Year.
