Nah, it's pretty believable if you actually think about it. Sanji was at a huge disadvantage because he has to avoid hurting Momo while fighting Kanjuro, so he can't just send them both flying with his strongest attacks. Kanjuro and Akazaya 9 are actually pretty cracked in terms of scaling, so Sanji holding back would def get beat like this especially when he doesn't know Kanjuro's fighting style at all.

A little detail you missed btw. Denjiro didnt dye his hair or anything. His face and hair changed literally because he was so angry and frustrated. Thats what that scene in the hut was supposed to signify

The quote if im not mistaken was: " I'll find a crew eventually. Let's see... I think about 10 people sound right." which would imply 10 crew members in addition to Luffy. This has been a pretty contested quote tho from what i know. so all I can say is Who knows. Lets let Oda cook and see what happens.

In the Manga, he blocks Kawamatsu. But Sanji doesn't even get a hit on Kanjuro before the ink cloud.

Luffy said ten crew members but that is not including himself I think, so we truly are at 9 members and thus not complete even with Vivi as an honorary straw hat member at the moment.
