Wow… not sure how this happened but I missed an entire chapter. I went straight from trust to mortal without reading wounded. No wonder I thought something was wrong.

It’s not so much that she didn’t fix it immediately. It’s just that this is the first time we are hearing about a life threatening injury that the POV character is apparently already aware of and actively trying to fix. Also, while I’m glad that there are things she can’t do immediately, I’m not sure why this is one of them… it makes sense that between spirit, healing, and creation, she should be able to do this. Meanwhile, she can genetically engineer people in a snap.

It did come from the funeral. And I will probably be going back to add in more phantom pains in editing because I forgot to do that, but as to why she didn't know...well, it comes back to her just now figuring out how to see living spirits. She doesn't instantly know how to do everything.

Good chapter, thanks. It is a bit bleak, but well within reason. And I agree on the Pern dragon imbalance being unfair, although if the riders could jump between on their own, they might do so by reflex at the shock as well...

Where did this wound in her spirit come from? What left it? Why is she only mentioning it now if her spirit magic has been working since that morning? I feel like a scene got left out somewhere…
